blower options

well decided to install a supercharger and wanted to know is there one kit that shines out compared to the others ? I personally like the whipple kit but have heard good things about the procharger kit. Down the road I will install forged internals but for now just a low boost blower with a really good tune should make it fun

In my honest opinion wipple is the way I'd go. No major brackets to bolt up, no Goofy air filter location and when you pop The hood and see a Whipple it's just that much cooler. Plus I like the idea of having engine oil lubing it not a stand alone system like some prochargers use. Most people forget to check the oil in them and cook them.
Just my two cents tho. Performance is the same.

I ran the Torque storm supercharger on a 5.3LS for a year, blower performs really well. I have gone turbo but still have it for a future project. I have one of the original kits before they upgraded them. I made 550hp at 9psi on a custom cam but otherwise stock 5.3. For the price and max Hp of 750hp they are a very nice product and wouldn’t hestitate to run one on my ram.

Btw, centric and PD blowers are not created equal, centric is more efficient and runs cooler but PD makes off idle TQ and power, but a centri wins up top.

thanks for the info there are more choices than i first thought. I guess I need to research a little more before I write the big check, to make sure I know what I am getting. Not looking to break records just a faster ram with some b%lls.

The procharger air to air intercooler would probably work with some changes to the plumbing. It requires an AGS delete, but that's to be expected since you don't want those shutters blocking your intercooler and removing them frees up a ton of space.

Keep in mind the torq system still requires piping,intercooler, fuel injectors, and a tune. If you don’t want to fabricate or don’t want to pay a shop too, it may not be the way to go.

Really depends what you want and what you want to spend. Something like a procharger has more linear boost and may make better power up top.

A PD blower like a whipple, magnusson etc. are great for street applications, make boost off idle, plus there’s the noise. They can be more harsh on the drivetrain but a good tune can mitigate that and keep it safe.

I have the whipple, and while it’s more expensive I’d say it’s worth it. The kit comes with everything you need, everything bolts in, great instructions and it simply works. No fabrication at all. It makes around 8psi with the pulley it ships with. Both me and buddies truck dynoed right at 500hp at the wheels, at 3000ft and in the middle of summer.

IMHO it’s the way to go.

Try asking them,they just put together a Ram 1500 with their blower,and I think they have an intercooler for it now,or they can point you to the intercooler they used.I thought i'd heard they were going to come out with a complete kit,but that was through the rumour mill. I posted a link a few posts back to their facebook page.other option would be to hunt up their phone number and do it the old fashioned way,by phoning Torq Storm.

Ya I saw that awhile ago. I really like it, just not sure how much I like the price of it. That and I haven’t found much of anyone that’s had a bunch of experience with it. I really like the idea though.

It's definitely new. Modelled after the Hellcat controller. After talking with Dave about It, I luv it! Having it installed with mine. It really could help save some unmodified parts. Check some videos out on Facebook and Instagram @ @modern_muscle_xtreme. It is smooth, really.

I did talk to them, they have a unique approach to say the least. They are hesitant to work with folks that aren't already working with a tuner, and they want the tuner/owner to figure out what they want the truck/motor to do, then come to them with the plan. The only real options from them is the pulley size (three offered) to determine the boost range. Also found out they use the ATI pulley (which is on backorder) which I though was a positive development. They recommend treadstone intercoolers also. From reading various articles/reviews it seems to produce decent torq just under 2K. I do like the billet heavy duty construction, self oiled and ceramic bearing aspects also.

Really? Dave took control of my build. Basically said f*$% the forged 392 with a built 6speed our the superstreet nag and finalized the whippled forged 426 with the built 8hp75 conversion. Here's the kicker, a lot of it is his dime! I'll repeat That, the first $30,000 is my dime, the next $$$$$$ is his dime. Go figure, he did pretty much the same thing with azn's jeep. That dude is a retired NASCAR engine builder, only specializes in custom builds. You sure you got that right? Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post. I find the whole MMX TEAM innovative and always want to be in control of the build. Just so you kn ow, my tuner is AJ Burge with Jim @ True Street Proformance. Not a a. Bad word?
