I’m nearing 80k miles on my 2014 Ram Hemi and the cam/lifter failures I have read about concern me going forward.

Please list your mileage currently, failure mileage if you had it and mfg year. I’m hoping to read some no issues responses over 100k miles!

Is this blown out of proportion about the cam/lifter failures?

I don't have facts and figures, but have you owned it since new? Changed oil/filter at reasonable intervals and don't idle it excessively?

I would think if she's been silent for ~8yrs and 80K, you should be able to expect 120-140K miles out of it. I think we have some high mileage later model Ram hemis out there, but nothing crazy it seems.

I have 85k on my 2014. The engine is quiet. Had a major concern a month ago, when noticed a tick in a drive thru.
Switched oil and filter and no more issues. Synthetic oil changes every 5-6k miles. Mostly Pennzoil 5w30 with occasional RedLine.

I have a 2012 Ram 1500 with 136,000 miles and a 2012 Ram 2500 with 212,000 miles with no problems so far. Both are 5.7 Hemi's. Both oil and filter changed at 5000 miles religiously. The 2012 1500 with 136,000 miles is mine personally and I run Pennzoil Platinum 5W20. The 2500 is a company truck with 212,000 and they'll only let me get the oil made for Carquest 5W30.

First Ram a 2015 ate the cam/lifters at 32K miles(.fixed under warranty) and lived strictly on Pennzoil 5W20, mostly PUP and never more than 5K miles between oil changes. I sold it to a buddy and he’s right at 100K now and it hasn’t happened again. He’s exclusively ran Redline 5W30 since with the RP oil filter pretty much every time.

I picked it up with 27k on it. I know the prior owner took really good care of it. Myself... run full synthetic 5-20 changing every 5k miles. I only idle it some in the winter for maybe 5 minutes before going.

We hear about the Hemi cam and lifter failure a lot and I'm not saying it doesn't happen to a lot of people but as a person that works on most brands I can tell you it's not just the Hemi. Where I work we have 1 2004 and 1 2005 Chevy 5.3 engines that I have put cam and lifters in both. To be fair they had over 140,000 miles on them. A friend I work with has a 2002 Corvette Z06 with 44,000 miles that had to have cam and lifters in it. I would be very disappointed in any brand if it happened to me. When it cost you $3500 plus to repair them no one is happy and I understand that. I'm so thankful it hasn't happened to me so far. I can tell you as a Dodge person my entire life, if something happens to a Dodge, the whole world hears it. If it happens to any other brand no one hears about it! Always been that way. That's why I only go by my own experiences.

14 1500 with a 94k miles on the engine. Bought the truck brand new and have been running Redline 5w30 and an RP filter, changing about every 5000 miles, with MDS turned off since I found this forum a long way back, around 20k miles on the truck.

No major issues, but she’s tired and could go for a refresh and some LT headers.

2014 5.7 with 126K and counting.
Mine's noisy as hell due to broken manifold bolts thus a bad exhaust leak.
However does not seem to have lifter issues will know for sure when finally get my LT headers on.
And this is an ex fleet truck with extremely high idle hours.
I would not hesitate to buy another hemi and I fully expect to get 200 to 250K out of this truck like I have almost every other vehicle I've owned.
However if you don't need a truck you could probably make a profit selling it!

2017 1500 5.7 with 87k miles on it. Bought it as a dealer demo with 5k miles back in July 2017. I change the oil just before the idiot light comes on (usually between 9000-9500 miles). I use Mobil One Extended Performance full synthetic in whatever weight the manual says (5W20 I believe) and a WIX filter. No ticking, no issues, runs fine. I dont beat on my truck too bad most days, only in the very rare fit of road rage or when I need to pass someone. Otherwise, I would say I drive pretty average. 5-10 over the limit (which around here is still a little slower than the flow on the freeway), and no big hurry accelerating to that speed. I'd say my total miles are a pretty good split of city and highway, maybe leaning slightly toward more highway. I will be disappointed if I don't get 150k out of it, IF I still have it at that point of course.

My 09 had a cam failure, the lobe broke somewhere around 125 to 150 miles I think. May have been the cam, may have been the lifter. Its been fixed and I am about to turn 300K miles.

14 with 101k miles. No issues knocking on wood. Bought it used in July 2018 with 40 something K. I use Castrol 5w30 with Mopar factory oil filter. MDS disabled since day 2. Oil change when the light to change the oil says so. I don't do anything special to the oil or the way I drive her. Still runs like a champ when I put the pedal to the metal.
