So i have a 2009 dodge ram 1500 5.7 L Hemi. A few weeks ago it started acting rough at stop signs and red lights. A mechanic said its not getting sufficient air so i put a cold air intake, new throttle body, throttle body riser. Now today it started replicating the same behavior after 3 twenty five mile drives. I plugged it up to a scanner that is saying cylinder 3 misfire. When I google that its saying most likely the injectors which have never been replaced but elsewhere it says the fuel rail. Any help is truly appreciated

There isn't sufficient information to determine anything.

How many miles are on the truck?

Your screenshot shows that p0303 is only 1 of 5 total codes. What are the others?

Did your mechanic give any info as to why he determined that it wasn't getting enough air? Just having a p0303 isn't nearly enough info to make a guess like that, and just replacing random parts is expensive and can do more harm than good. Especially aftermarket parts.

KEEP the OEM parts. Especially if the parts you installed are from the likes of Amazon, Ebay or a local parts store.

You can try swapping that injector with another cylinders injector,if the code follows the injector, then that's probably your issue.I doubt it is,but it's worth a try before digging to much deeper.
You can clean and check your injectors flow at home pretty easily

I don't know what kind of scan tool you are using, but you may consider taking it back for a refund.

P1004 is has nothing to do with cold start ignition timing. P1004 is the short runner actuator in the intake manifold:

From my factory service manual:

From google:

P0113 was probably set when someone started the engine with the IAT sensor disconnected. In the video below, ray unplugs the IAT at the 1min 28sec point. Turning on the truck with that little guy disconnected probably caused the p0113. I wouldn't worry about that one for now.

A short runner code and misfire under load can indeed cause "not enough air", but this is NOT going to be fixed with an aftermarket cold air intake.

Here is a video with ole Rainman Ray fixing a Ram with the short runner code and misfires:

If the amount/complexity of work he's doing in that video is more than you want to deal with, then bite the bullet, break out the ckeckbood and find a competent shop.

the truck has 160,000 on it so hopefully not but good advice. Im probably just going to bring it to another mechanic at this point. In reference to what scanner I used we have a TopDon at work but then again my boss is notorious for buying stuff off tiktok shop so idk if its worth a flip. Thank you all so much

If you do what wildone said, you will find out. Swap plugs and coil pack and then try injectors with cylinder 3 and easy other one, if code travels you know it was item, if not it is more likely cam/lifters.

The post above is good advice.

The short runner malfunction tends to cause misfires at high rpm and under heavy load, not so much at idle. It is also more likely to cause random misfires on all cylinders, rather than one specific cylinder. It's entirely possible that a high mileage truck like yours could have more than one problem. The short runner code may not be related to having misfires at a stoplight.

Does your engine tick at warm idle? Or at all?
