Wow, may be old news for alot of you but I noticed a small leak from the out out shaft and went to check the tranny fluid to find out there is no damn dipstick and you have to bring it to the dealer to check...I understand you really dont need it as you shouldnt need to check as you shouldnt go through fluid but in the case you do have a leak there is no way to check...

On pg 3 the instructions are listed for the procedure to check the transmission fluid level in the 8 speed. It seems more complicated then it actually is,lol.

I really hate the fact that there is no dip stick for the transmission :O I like to visually see things not guess :O I have my dealer check it when they do the oil change !
(FYI too lazy to change my own ::O Plus price is good :)

Thanks for the info, it's a bit late now but will do this in the am...had a feeling there was a way, thanks again

Make sure to pay good attention to the first step. Not having it perfectly level (front to back and side to side) will throw off your reading. And the 8 speed is supposedly very sensitive to fluid level, so a thrown off reading could lead to issues.

I have read that the reason for no dipstick is because without one, the transmission is sealed. A dipstick would let oxygen, and possibly water into the transmission. The sealed transmission is also part of the reason that it is supposedly a lifetime, no maintenance transmission.

Trust the idiot light?

The transmission still has a vent on it.No vent is going to blow seals .Heat expands things and causes pressure, with no where to release that pressure you're going to blow seals, also needs somewhere to let air back in when the fluid cools off and contracts.

IMO the reason they do not have a dip stick is they save a few $$$
