DIY 5.0 to 8.4 Navigation upgrade

Yea that's what I am thinking. It probably wont work unless the truck has the correct code. I am not sure if activating the RA4 code will do it. I need to find out what the code is for the auto dim mirror and see if I can add it. I know alot of guys have added the 911 mirror after there upgrades. I wonder if the auto dim function works in there's. I don't realy care if I can turn it off or not I just want it to work.

Delete the 5.0 pairing from your phone and try again...

No problem, I believe the conflict arises when the phone sees the exact same name for the Bluetooth device (uconnect) and tries to pair with it using the pairing for the old radio.

I tried three dealers to get them to add the auto dimming code, no dice. But some folks claim they had it added so who knows.

I'm gonna give it a try when it goes in for the recall on the air bags. I'll let you know how it comes out. My mirror now is actually fine but I found one on eBay with the auto dim feature for $65 and I couldn't pass it up if it doesn't work I'll just chalk it up to experience.

You have a non auto dimming mirror in there now, and it has microphones so it is current also not a 911 / assist mirror then?
Correct me if I am wrong are all the 911 / assist mirrors auto dimming?

Yes my truck has the standard 5.0 bluetooth mirror with no 911 or assistance buttons since this is all actualy incorporated it the actual 5.0 radio itself. I have never seen a 911 mirror without auto dim but not Sure if one exists. I have seen trucks with the 8.4 with no comfort control button in pictures so one would have no way to turn the auto dim on and off which would leave me to believe they may exist. But you never know if that radio was added to the trucks like we have done.

This is how it works, if you have no comfort controls prior to doing 8.4 swap (I came from a RA1) the auto dim will be on from when you install it and only activate when you have headlights in t like it should, you just can't shut it off (don't know why you would). Once you flash the 1 sales code for it, then you get the soft key on the screen for it. I have tested the button and it works shutting it on off.

Ok everything hooked up. I get Yelp ,3D maps, Sirius etc. I think I might have gotten wrong bezel as this one has two up and two down buttons on Ac. Feel like iv seen single zone installed. If that's case I'll have to replace bezel. I do get a red screen that says phone error every ten minutes. I have 911 cable attached.... Guess I have some more tweaking to do.

Yeah, you have the auto bezel which will work just fine but the passenger side buttons and auto button will do nothing.
