INFO - 2013, 2014, 2015 8.4AN FW Notes (RA4/VP4 NA)
I have 2 goals for the thread to help those with the conversion...

1) - identify valid 2013+ 8.4AN VP4_NA part numbers
(Help folks get the correct radio)

2) - share/host valid 2013+ 8.4AN VP4_NA firmware files
(so people with wrong VINs can get updates and others can roll back if they need to).

Just need more feedback and info from other members.

If you press and hold both the temperature-up (red arrow) and temperature-down (blue arrow) buttons at the same time, for 5 or so seconds, you are presented with the "Engineering Menu"

looks like it might be a valid 2014 Ram P/N.

I am working on this MOD, upgrading from 5.0, I ordered what was supposed to be an RA4 received it today from LKQ, its an RA3 an, BUT it says WITH navigation. what is the real difference between the 2 other than the 3d maps and HD radio option? should I mess with return/swap, or roll with this one. I cross checked VIN and its from a 2015 2500 SLT.. I guess is it worth the wait to try and get what I intended. I paid $400.... seems to be low end of ball park pricing for the 8.4 with nav, from the hundreds of pages I've read. any opinions appreciated.

Well I personally wouldn't pay over $250, but I guess the real question is, does it have NAV activated?

Send it back. You need a RA4 VP4 NA. The RA3 is Nav capable with a dealer flash. If it has not been added by a dealer it doesn't have Nav. The RA3 radios go for around 150.00 and are not very sought after. Call them asap and return it. 400.00 is way to much for an RA3 you can pick up RA4 radios for 400.00 to 450.00 pretty easily.

well thanks guys, my gut was right when I was pissed I saw the VP3 on the back when opened the box. will be calling first thing in the morning. dam.. was so close to the big screen I could literally touch it... that's why this forum is great. will update once I get the right dang radio with numbers for Grimm after install.

It happens, LKQ is pretty good about taking returns and/or exchanges. You may be able to get them to exchange it for a VP4/RA4 for the same price if you call. The guys at the call center have access to every yards inventory.

I think that's the best choice....remember make sure it's a VP4 NA( North America) out of a Dodge Ram if they send you a VP4 CA it's for Canada and does not have real time traffic. You can tell instantly by looking at the back. If it's not an NA it won't have the two Falkra connections on the far right were it all hooks up. It will have two square indintations instead. I always have them send me Pics before I buy anything. They list stuff wrong all of the time. Good luck keep us posted.

But the way, I have managed to dig up several VP4 NA RAM/year specific part numbers for the OP of my info thread. I am sure there are more, but it's a start.

Well spoke with call center, awaiting call back, they actually had RA4 in the listing so I hope they will hold to that, and just swap even.
I have a possibly already answered question, Are the 3 parts, in the 4 speed to 7 speed MOD list, "Harness, Control Module, Resistor" required, or is all that just to get 3 more fan speeds? is it possible to do the 1UJ96 bezel and RA4, and just keep the 4 speed fan?

They sent me the wrong speedometer. .....three times! But they were always pretty good about exchanging them. They realy don't have a choice in your case since it was listed wrong. The inaccuracy in there listings is amazing. I see stuff on e Bay all of the time that they have listed completely wrong. If they don't have another one to send you get a refund and check Car-Part.com they usually have quite a few listed. As far as the fan speeds goes I am not sure. My conversion was for the 7 speed fan...

It is not, if it were possible people would just do that instead of paying an extra $100 on the harness and resistor.

Did you just take out the top two screws under the ram logo at the top and just pull the unit till it popped free? I unscrewed those two screws and I don't have the 110V unit so I don't believe there is a third screw, I pulled pretty hard and mine didn't pop free so just don't want to break it either.
