Tempted to cut that SOB off. Frustrating.

Guess I gotta get a sharp point in there. Don't have a pick. Gotta make one I guess.

Got as far as getting the intake all disconnected and unbolted, all except the connector at the very back. That will have to be tomorrow.

I'm kind of embarassed, the intake ports on the heads are very cruddy with oil. The intake and heads are gonna get a good cleaning, for sure.

Looks like a catch can will be in my future.

Post some pic's of the intake ports on both the manifold and heads for all the catch can non-believers Ed.
Pour some gas inthe manifold, and shake the hell out of it,then dispose of the used gas in an eviromently friendly manner ;) ,then spray a bunch of engine degreaser inside it,and run it over to your local carwash and use their high pressure soap setting to wash and rinse it out. A rag soaked in Acetone / Laquer Thinner/ Gas / Brake Clean etc. makes short work of wiping out the ports in the head.
Felpro intake gaskets are pretty decent, and way cheaper then getting them at a local dealer.

Will do.

Mind you, my intake has never been off the truck, nor has the throttle body, and they are cruddy, I'm sure.

The intake ports on the head (at least the passenger side ones are black. I didn't really expect any different after 200k miles.

I do have a pressure washer with a soap dispenser, was thinking about hitting it with some Dawn and hot water, and use a long a/c coil brush on it. Still debating, lots to clean beside that.

That @%$@& connector at the rear of the intake is a real b i t c h to get at. I'm on the topside creeper, as far out as I can lay, and I still can just barely reach it. I cannot see it so I don't know if it has a lock (probably does). There just isn't alot of room to maneuver in there.

If anyone can recommend some videos on cleaning our intakes and throttle bodies, fire away..

The wire harness on the drivers side does not have alot of room to get it away from the valve covers and heads. Suggestions there are welcomed.

I'm guessing it's the short runner valve connector giving you static, they're a bear to get at,lol.
A high pressure washer and dish soap works to,especially if you have some long flexible scrub brushes to get inside the manifold to help scrub it clean.

If thats the one right on the back passenger side of the intake, that's the problem child.

You know, if there was an extra 8-12 inches of wire to that valve, there would be no issue moving the intake far enough forward to access the connector.

Us the valve easily removed to clean the intake?

Everything is easy to remove, once the intake is on a bench, lol

How do you unhook that connector?

I have alot less patience now that I'm older....lol
It's a pretty standard clip, you just have to push down on the locking tab, after pushing the red locking tab out,to the release position, sometimes it helps to push the connector on,as you push down on the tab under the red tab.

This is the red tab in the locked position,if you look close you can see the release tab under it,that you have to push down on.

If you can get at the 10mm bolts with a small 1/4" ratchet and socket,it might be easier to unbolt the srv actuator, and remove it from the manifold, then once you get the manifold out of the way,you can get at it easier.

Ok, got the intake off, WHAT A PAIN IN THE BALLS, had to undo the PCM plugs, the plug by the passenger side, and the ground on the passenger side fenderwell, and finally got enough room to move the intake enough to get at the SRV plug.

In process, I found 2 more wiring retainer clips at the back of the intake. I just could not see them.

I had some raw gas on to of the drivers side valley, and some oil on the passenger side valley as well, but think this is all from dicking around trying to pull the intake.

Ok, @Wild one, as you requested, this is for the Catch Can Deniers:

2015 Ram 1500 SLT QC 2wd, 201250 miles. Bone stock, the intake has never been off this engine, I've put 173,000 miles on it myself.

Drum roll please (btw, I vacuumed ALOT of crap off top of the heads and intake side of the valve covers before these pics).

Driver side:

Passenger side:

Stay tuned.

There are a few very small specks of metal (<20?) and some specks of dirt from my fingers.

I feel your pain man. I'm laughing with you and not at you, only because...been there done that! It took me an hour to get all the manifold stuff ready to come off, then spent the next hour (at least) trying to get that damn plug off! Gave up, went back in the next morning and popped it off in 5 minutes. haha

Hey Ed.

Reach into that port and get that piece of debris out so that it don't end up getting sucked into the cylinder. It might be nothing, but not sure. Better safe than sorry.
Vacuum deployed.

Looks like my heads are coming off anyway.
@Ken226, the vacuum got it, seemed like a piece of plastic bag. Thank you for spotting it.

I'm gonna try to take copious pictures of this experience, hoping it helps someone else down the line. Thank you all so much, keep the tips and comments coming, please!
