Post some pic's of the intake ports on both the manifold and heads for all the catch can non-believers Ed.Got as far as getting the intake all disconnected and unbolted, all except the connector at the very back. That will have to be tomorrow.
I'm kind of embarassed, the intake ports on the heads are very cruddy with oil. The intake and heads are gonna get a good cleaning, for sure.
Looks like a catch can will be in my future.
Will do.Post some pic's of the intake ports on both the manifold and heads for all the catch can non-believers Ed.
Pour some gas inthe manifold, and shake the hell out of it,then dispose of the used gas in an eviromently friendly manner, then spray a bunch of engine degreaser inside it,and run it over to your local carwash and use their high pressure soap setting to wash and rinse it out. A rag soaked in Acetone / Laquer Thinner/ Gas / Brake Clean etc. makes short work of wiping out the ports in the head.
Felpro intake gaskets are pretty decent, and way cheaper then getting them at a local dealer.

I'm guessing it's the short runner valve connector giving you static, they're a bear to get at,lol. Will do.
Mind you, my intake has never been off the truck, nor has the throttle body, and they are cruddy, I'm sure.
The intake ports on the head (at least the passenger side ones are black. I didn't really expect any different after 200k miles.
I do have a pressure washer with a soap dispenser, was thinking about hitting it with some Dawn and hot water, and use a long a/c coil brush on it. Still debating, lots to clean beside that.
That @%$@& connector at the rear of the intake is a real b i t c h to get at. I'm on the topside creeper, as far out as I can lay, and I still can just barely reach it. I cannot see it so I don't know if it has a lock (probably does). There just isn't alot of room to maneuver in there.
If thats the one right on the back passenger side of the intake, that's the problem child.I'm guessing it's the short runner valve connector giving you static, they're a bear to get at,lol.
A high pressure washer and dish soap works to,especially if you have some long flexible scrub brushes to get inside the manifold to help scrub it clean.
Everything is easy to remove, once the intake is on a bench, lolIf thats the one right on the back passenger side of the intake, that's the problem child.
You know, if there was an extra 8-12 inches of wire to that valve, there would be no issue moving the intake far enough forward to access the connector.
Us the valve easily removed to clean the intake?
How do you unhook that connector?Everything is easy to remove, once the intake is on a bench, lol
It's a pretty standard clip, you just have to push down on the locking tab, after pushing the red locking tab out,to the release position, sometimes it helps to push the connector on,as you push down on the tab under the red tab.How do you unhook that connector?
I have alot less patience now that I'm older....lol

That's not much metal,if the cams going out,it looks like you caught it early enough to be safe stuffing a new one in,and doing a couple oil changes afterwardsOil control valve.

There are a few very small specks of metal (<20?) and some specks of dirt from my fingers.

I feel your pain man. I'm laughing with you and not at you, only because...been there done that! It took me an hour to get all the manifold stuff ready to come off, then spent the next hour (at least) trying to get that damn plug off! Gave up, went back in the next morning and popped it off in 5 minutes. hahaWill do.

Reach into that port and get that piece of debris out so that it don't end up getting sucked into the cylinder. It might be nothing, but not sure. Better safe than sorry.
