I tried my redneck resurfacing, and it did work, but the sanding sheets I got were too fine (800). I did use some scotch-brite pad, but those are very fine as well. I didn't want to get really aggressive, either.
I have a couple 400 grit 6 x 48 belts which I have glued to my glass top.

The head has some discolored spots from the earlier cleaner, hard water, my dirty fingers, and original use, but is flat (I could not get a .0015 feeler gauge underneath my straightedge anywhere).
Waiting for the 6 x 48 belts to dry to my glass top.
Thoughts?
