So I just installed my TYC e fan, install was super easy. I have a hemifever tune and in the tune the fan setting is already set at 193.99. Just now I noticed it came on around 195 so its coming on almost perfect, I waited to see when it would turn off and it got down to 185 and just stayed on till I finally turned off the truck. Is this normal? When it supposed to turn off?

Do you have the 180 thermostat? HemiFever more than likely has it tuned for the 180. So when it gets around the 180/81 mark. It'll probably shut off. That's how mine is.

Thanks for the response, I do have the 180. So just so I understand, it will turn on at 194 and turn off at 180?

Mines the same way. If I'm pushing my truck hard it gets up to 204 but comes down as soon as I get off of it.

What should you set your fans turn with a 180 thermo?

I was told 190, but that seems high.

Any lower settings may interfer with temp enabled systems that run after temps reach 180.

Obviously oil quality is important as are a whole new set of things to consider. First of all, it is my understanding the the PCM has certain learning procedures that don't even begin to be retained in memory until the engine reaches 180 degrees F. - depending on your intentions that can be a good or a bad thing.

For the VVT system the PCM actually retains in memory the amount of cam/crank difference caused by timing chain wear and incorporates this into the cam position adjustment .5 degrees every time the car is started until the cam/crank difference comes into proper alignment. So this would be an area where we would want the car to reach at least 180 degrees.

I got another question about the e fan, it's my understanding that you only receive the small amount of horsepower gain when the fan is off. Mine comes on at the setting set by hemifever (193.99) and off at 180 (was told this). My temp never seems to go lower then 185 so my fan is always on negating the HP gain. Should I set the fan to turn off at 185? If so, how do I change it?

Thanks

Hate to bump my own thread but curious if someone had an answer for this^

It doesn't go down passed 185 even if you are parked and just letting it idle?

You may want to check the thermostat. Maybe the seal isn't good anymore or it's not sitting in there properly. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it has to be in there a certain way? Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

Thanks for your response, I really appreciate it. I've never seen my temp below 183 after the 180 therm. I've read that it will vary from 180 to 185 so Ive always just assumed it was working right. In regards to the position of the t stat I believe there's a hole that needs to be at the 12 o clock. I can't remember tho if I did install it like that, I'll have to check it. Just so I understand, if the t stat was working properly my truck would hit 180?

I would assume it would. I haven't paid much attention to mine lately but I remember seeing that it would get to like 180-181 and shut off. I'll take a look at lunch or after work at what mine does but my temps don't get high and the fan shuts off. I'm also using 1 of those tyc fans.

Sorry if it seems like I'm asking the same questions, but if I wanted to set my e fan to turn off at 185 is that something I can do or does it have to be set by hemifever? If it can be set by me, how do I set it?

Thanks guys, and again I apologize for asking another E fan question.

I'm not sure if you can set it or not. Just give HemiFever an email, I'm sure he will let you know about that.
