I am new to this forum and trucks all together. I know enough about vehicles to get me by but not too much about exhausts. Id like to upgrade my exhaust on my 2010 hemi, but am lost on what to get. I've heard good things about magnaflow and flowmaster, and am leaning towards one of those brands. The only thing is that I've heard that any exhaust that has a resonator is going to drone a lot. what exactly is the resonator? If I just buy a muffler does that replace the factory resonator, or is that a separate part? Also, with just buying a muffler does that require cutting and welding, or is it a bolt on upgrade. Is it something that I can do by myself in my garage?

A resonator is actually in place to prevent any drone, so you want to keep that. If you buy just a muffler, then you will need to have it welded on. Next step would be 1 of the Mufflex kits which are basically a bolton muffler and tailpipe combo. And finally, there are full catback exhaust systems that are cmopletely bolton. They replace all the factory piping, replace the muffler, and come with new exhaust tips as well. They also use the stock hanger locations for a perfect fit. Catback systems are much more expensive, but its nice to be able to put it on in your driveway and take it off when it comes time to sell the truck.

Welcome to the forum. First off, a lot of people will go with the Mufflex kit for the 4th gen rams as it is a direct bolt on, and can be done with a ratchet set in your garage within an hour. The resonators on these trucks are close to the tail pipes if you have the dual exhaust (They look like bulges in the pipe). There should be next to no drone with any of the mufflex muffler replacement kits and a tailpipe running out the back. IF you choose to just go with a replacement muffler than there will be welding and adding of pipes involved to get it to fit, and unless you can weld and bend pipe probably wont be able to do it in your garage.

Seems Hemi450hp beat me to it, but heres a link to mufflex kits, http://www.mufflex-performance.com/34-dodge-ram-1500-2009-to-present.

As far as what I've seen from other people on the forum they like the mufflew and here is just another recommendation so I think that this is what i will go with. The only thing is I've seen magnaflow or flowmaster mufflers around the $90 range, would getting that installed add up to more than just ordering a mufflex for $263. Unless anyone knows of a cheaper place to order them.

Our pricing comes out about the same after you factor in shipping...$289 shipped. The benefit of the mufflex kit is that you can easily remove it as apposed to having to cut off a muffler that was welded on. In the end, you can do it cheaper though if you just buy the muffler and take it to a shop.

No. Some dealerships might try to be really picky with you, but a simple muffler swap is going to add enough power to do any damage, and your dealership shouldnt have a problem with it.
