I like that they come standard with 1-7/8" primaries, and no cats!
My rear o2's are already tuned out with my Supercharger custom tune.
and my stock cats are currently the bottle neck in my system.

JBA's LT's are the best deal out there right now if you don't need cats.
(ARH's come with a mid pipe, optional high flow cats for +$100, and Y pipe)

Finally getting the gears and diff installed. Any advice on the break in period. The shop is about 25 miles from my home. 4 Wheel Parts Miami Gardens.

If anyone is considering having this done, maybe this will help (not on tech issues, but more on the feel and performance).

Had 3.55 open dif, swapped for oem 4.10 w/oem LSD. Royal Purple gear oil, mini install kit, all new bearings, (tried to install the Mag-Hytec diff cover).

Immediately I noticed the following:

1. Smoother yet, more sensitive throttle reponse
2. Smoother shifts, less shifting all together, no searching for gears
3. A more balanced and planted feel on acceleration
4. More engine breaking, which I like (something I miss about a stick shift)
5. An overall lighter more agile feel to the truck, less bogging down

This is what I was told about the break in period.
500 miles. Take it easy on truck. Don't drive faster than 60mph. Do not drive longer than 10 mintues without stopping and allowing the diff to cool down.
They say the worst thing to do is drive a long distance at freeway speeds, during the 500 miles.
Last, after the 500 miles have it serviced, and have the gear oil changed.

Why the "tried to install the difference cover" Clearance issues?

On the 17th...next Thursday. After reading your post I'm even more excited! Can't wait. I had head the diff covers had issues with lowered vehicles specifically.

Cool!
I hope my review didn't exaggerate the difference the gears made, and give you false expectations. Lol!
Everything I said is immediately noticeable and a big improvement over the 3.55s and open diff. Plus, I have yet to see how it is after the break in when I can have some fun with it!!!

I am going to MAKE the cover fit when I install the 2/4 drop! If I have to, I am going to grind out a little groove horizontally in the fins of the diff cover, to give the panhard bar a little room to breath.

I got lucky and found a differential-4x4-dodge specialty shop in my area. He came recommended from two other shops including 4wheelparts.

$550 and I was amazed at how perfect his work was! Plus, being a mom and pop shop, he let me tinker around with my truck on the rack. I don't get that chance very often! :)

Even though I only have 6,000 miles on my truck, I went ahead and had him replace the bearings, too. Two reasons: While the diff is open and apart and I am replacing with all new, why not new bearings too. Next, I have heard that it's common they get damaged when they are pulled.

Are you going to be replacing the bearings, too???

Bluebully - Is the gear swap done???

Bro it has been a nightmare! 4wheelparts bailed out on me again...After dropping the truck off they tell me that I only had the carrier bearings and needed the pinion bearings. I go through the trouble of ordering them from the dealer to get them to him next day then he calls me and says he will have to reschedule me again! What a joke this shop is...I will never advise anyone to go there and told them I won't be wasting my time with their shop ever again!!! Found a new shop Jeepers 4x4 going this Thursday for the install for the same price. Only question is whether I need shims. He says he will try to reuse the current ones. I have the new oem lsd new 4.10 gears carrier bearings pinion bearings lsd additive and 2 quarts of royal purple diff oil. I hope this is it for the moment. I'm so damn stressed with this upgrade it's ridiculous. Something this straight forward shouldnt be so complicated. Sorry about the long rant!

In fairness, properly installing gears is NOT 'straight forward' but getting the work scheduled should be!

You *should* be ok with the install. I would have purchased a 'master install kit' which includes all the bearings, seals and shims needed for install.

Unfortunately I got the mini install kit. By no means was I implying that it is simple. Just straight forward in the sense that this is something these shops do every day. You book a block of time and should stick to it. Moreso after cancelling out on me once before, they should have made a little effort to accomodate me. I even advised them that i would be off all the following week...they just could give a ****. That's just garbage customer service. Fingers crossed at this point. Just want to get this done and move on to the next upgrade. Let's hope I found myself a good shop!

Wow! What a horrible experience, sorry to hear that...

A couple things:
1. For a shop that does this stuff, it IS a straight forward job. Obviously, scheduling the appointment should be the easy part.
2. The Royal Purple already has the LSD additive in it.
3. I bought the mini install kit too and it worked fine for mine.
4. The little independent shop that did my install was awesome. Also, a 4x4 and differential specialist.
5. I would grab one more quart of RP to be safe, if a little bit spills you will run short. If you don't use it you can always return it.

I have spent a few thousand dollars at 4wheelparts, but I will never spend another dollar there. Just last week I asked them if they could install my drop kit, and they said they couldn't because they are not a Spohn dealer. WTF?

Maybe things not working out with them was meant to be. They are definitely not differential experts, and had they kept the appointment, who knows if getting the job done right would have not been a bigger nightmare!

I wish you luck bro! It will be worth it in the end... Look forward to an update after Thursday install. :)

So I have a question. With these shops being specialty shops for diffs why are they having you get all the parts needed? I understand that if its cheaper for you to do that but like the extra bottle of RP they should be able to get that and cheaper no problem. Everything from a proffesional shop should be straight forward and should not be putting any stress on you at all and seems to me like 4wheelparts seems like it doesn't want to make money anyways so good on you for not letting them do the work.

A couple reasons.
No differential shop is going to stock every part for every truck. If you have them order the parts for you, they will charge more than we can get our parts for online.
They stock their own choice of gear oil which they buy by the barrel. If you want RP you have to bring your own.
You are right, this situation looks really bad for 4wheelparts, especially considering they are a vendor on here.
