Question for the experts. I have a bull bar on the front of my 18 PW, and when I installed it, it came with these offsets to relocate my front parking sensors so the bull bar didn't set them off. The sensors location is now roughly 1/3 of the way into the hood, all the way to about 1/4" behind the leading edge of the bull bar. However, when I turn the sensors on they seem to be detecting the bull bar and indicating a 'too close' state. I have to believe that the 1/4" back that they are set isn't causing this problem. I think alternatively that I messed up and swapped the right and left sensors because I didn't pay attention to that when I was installing the bull bar.

So before I go taking this entire thing apart again and swapping sensors, does anyone know for sure whether the front sensors are directional or are they totally swappable?

I doubt there is a difference in sensors. Bezels maybe, but I'd be surprised if there was any difference in the sensors. But you can determine that yourself by looking at the part numbers on them. If the part numbers are the same there is no difference in them.

are they set back from the surface of the new bumper, if so that would set them off.
On my truck it shows which side is picking up , same on the back.
What is showing up on your dash? both side flashing?
I can't see why sides would make any difference, it would just be the wiring harness that sets sides I would think. But that just a guess, I was wrong once I was told.

Sensors are all the same. I have found that it helps to mark the up position on the senor and install it in the same orientation, versus 180 degrees out with the up mark pointing down, in the new hole. No idea why this helps but it seems to. You could try rotating them 180.

With respect to it being inset a 1/4", depending on how the sensor is set up in the new hole, that could cause false positive readings. It is also possible that the vertical bars on the brush guard are being picked up by the sensors. Can you post pictures of the mounted sensors.

From an old post

You cannot disable one or two sensors, nor can your remove the two blocked ones, they are not wired that way. Two options, buy the extension kit and move them out onto the Bull bar, or get the covers for the sensors so the blocked ones don't read and then you can leave the rest turned on.

On my 2021 2500, turning off the front sensors does not stop the rear from working or displaying the distance to target.

Relocate kit.

These are the Caps I used on mine to disable the two middle sensors when I mounted the Warn Transformer winch carrier. The only trick is they have to be mounted EXACTLY centred on the sensor. Put them on lightly to start with, check operation, align as necessary, press down hard to set them once the sensors don't false alert.

Another old post

Couple of things. If they were working in before you removed them they are likely still fine. You can however check a few things. Test each sensors resistance with an ohm meter. They should all be very close to the same. Now check continuity on the harness and connections. The sensors must be mounted in proper orientation as must the sensor holders. Did you mark up on each sensor, and one more witness line on the sensor housing before removing them and the harness.

Once you get that done, you can move to next steps. If you search sensor on this forum there are a lot of excellent threads.

ParkSense 2018 Ram

Hello, I am having issues with my 2018 Ram 1500 front parking sensors. The sensors work just fine as I put the truck in reverse and as I am slowing down (while in Drive) to an upcoming obstacle/object (car, garage, etc.) in front of me. However, as I am driving 15+ miles per hour, the "service...

They are set back about 1/4" from the front edge of the bull bar. It's both sides equally.

That's the same relocate kit I used.

Makes a big difference how you mounted it.
Have helped as much as I can with the info you provided. Not posting that you used a relocate kit, I presumed the new bull bar had sensor holes drilled into it. Manner and exact location of attaching the relocate kit makes a huge difference. Pictures would make it a whole lot easier to help, but it is up to you.

You're absolutely correct. I'll have pictures uploaded tomorrow morning for you. Thank you for your patience.

Number 3 and 5 are going to cause false readings due to the angle they are on. One may also be a problem.

This is what they should look like. There are only 4 on my 2021 2500 rear bumper too.
