Thinking of swapping gears. 4.10? 4.56? Or stay stock with 3.92?

Depends on what you want to accomplish and how deep your pockets are

There wouldn't be any point in going from 3.92's to 4.10's. If you're going to do it go to 4.56's!

The newer trucks are a more involved swap. Plus if you have a 4x4 it's even more $$.

What are your goals of the truck? Why are you wanting to swap? Those are questions that you should probably ask yourself.

I have 3.92 factory and 35" tires and with a few mods, I definitely do not feel the need to swap gears due to larger tires. If you are going to jump to 37" tires, then maybe Id say go with 4.56.

If you are looking to drag race, then 4.56 is a definite upgrade.

3.92's are a real good compromise between HP performance and gas mileage. 4.56's are great but you will pay at the pump. I agree going from 3.92's to 4.10's wouldn't yield much unless you have a specific reason like towing a specific weight and you needed just a tad of weight control. If you don't have large mud tires I would pass on the 4.56's as well.

i would go 4.56's in a heartbeat if it wasnt such a nightmare on 2012+ 4x4's. they dont hurt the fuel mileage like you think they would. depending on your driving, you might even see a gain.

In town they will help. Highway you will cry.

If you get 2 mpg less on the highway you would be lucky, more like 3 or 4, because just about nobody runs a 4.56 without getting meaty tires. So you'll lose mpg's there as well.

I will let you guys know how the 4.56's do next week. I am running a 32" tall tire on my 2011, and I am switching from 3.92's to 4.56's on Tuesday. I could care less about gas mileage, but I will see how it changes on the highway and in town. I am doing this strictly for performance.

are you speaking from experience or just opinion? most people who have done them love them and say the in town gains wash out the highway loss. they also say that your highway mileage does not suffer too bad considering you keep the speed under 70mph. now if you do 95% highway driving, 4.56's are probably not the right gear for you, but if its a close split, fuel mileage is a wash.

So I have 4.56's in my truck now. Just going off the EVIC I'm at 12mpg city with a lead foot. When I do highway and mixed city driving I'll creep up to 13-14 mpg.

When I had 3.55 I was at 10.9mpg city and 12 highway and city

I have 295/65/20 trail grapplers (35.4") tire.

And I'm not running a tune at the moment.

Last fill up I was at 320 miles on the trip meter, with 50 miles till empty. When it hits a quarter I fill up.

I have yet to do it manually

So roughly 380mpt. That's pretty good in my book. With 31.8x10.3 tires and 3.55's, I average 385-410/tank with my occasional WOT pulls and 30/70% city/hwy driving.

I definitely can't wait to be leveled with 34's and 4.56's. Sound like one hell of a good time. :D
