Hey, guys..

I have a 90 D150 318 with 727 trans 2wd, 3.08 gears. I am considering buying an 82 2wd donor truck for needed spare parts.

The donor truck has a slant 6 with np435. I'm curious about the prospects of swapping the manual into my build truck. Any issues I should know about or ideas on how it would gear out with 3.08 rears and "stock" diameter 235/70R15 tires?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I don't think the slant bellhousing works on the V8.
Hmm... Figures

I'm looking around for a bell housing.. may have found some. Will I need the matching fork or will the one from the slant 6 work?

Don't know. Never had a slant 6. You have to decide if you want to use hydraulic clutch (88+?) or linkage (87-?)

I didn't anticipate how much a used bellhousing would be. It would be easier to go hydraulic with my cab. Not sure it's all worth it. The 727 shifts good. Just trying to create some fun lol

Used prices are highly variable. Often a waiting/opportunity game.

My np435 parts trucks have been exceedingly cheap. Also snagged a free pedal setup from a guy that wanted nothing to do with the dodge after he pulled the Cummins.

I've got a line on a 1982 D150 225/manual shift donor truck for parts @ $800. It's 90 miles away and I'm trying to get the seller to confirm whether it has the 435 or 833OD trans. If it's the latter, I will find a way to make it work lol

Would likely need a flywheel and 10.5 inch clutch kit as well. Plus all the hydraulics. If the pedal assembly is for linkage would need a torqueshaft (z-bar for shevy folk) and linkage also
/6 is different there.

Am I getting myself into a mess?

A bit of one, but it's doable.

If I could convert my '10 to a manual without having todo the re-wiring and fenangling with the CAN bus it'd be worth it to me to switch to a manual.

I wouldn't say that. I converted my '84 suburban 2wd from auto to a HD 4spd manual ~17 years ago. Wrangle up factory parts and have a similar, longer driveshaft cut & welded to length.

Thanks. It's something I'd like to do. I just need to be patient and learn this stuff. I'm not experienced with Mopar ins/outs (yet).
