I have a question about my headers and Y pipe I bought. My Y pipe is catless. Until I get a tune to turn off my o2 sensors, is this going to make my truck run like ****?
I dont think i can turn them off with my diablo tuner.

I've got the jba catless and just had to put the stock tune back on for recall flashes. 75 miles or so and I've yet to throw a code. I hooked up all the 02 sensors when I installed. My understanding is that it'***** or miss for throwing a code.

Yeah like the others said you'll be fine. I ran headers for a year or two before the tuners were available for my '11 and the light was intermittent (mostly off).

I have a different question regarding headers. I have a 2011 Ram Sport single cab with 3:90 gears and the 5 speed. I added Flowmasters for more sound and a cold air intake system. I run a 3" lift on Duratrac 35" tires.

For my next step I want to add a set of headers. I would prefer the long tube versions, but I know they are illegal and will invalidate my new extended warrantee. If I just use the shorty version of the headers, to what degree will that add to my sound and/or performance? I would like more rumble at idle and low RPM's around town.

Thoughts? You guys are great!

Thanks everyone. Yeah my main concern was the motor running lean or rich. If its just a light, it will be driven until the tune is done.

You can also build a circuit to fool the PCM into thinking you have perfect catalyst operation. You used to be able to buy them real cheap until the crackdown on such things, but the basic circuit design is still readily available. I've built/used em before and they work as expected if you build it right.

Are you referring to the old resistor inline with the 02 sensor trick. I haven't done that since my old supercharged GM days, lol.I've never heard of it being used in the Dodge world, but i'm guessing it could be done .

That's crude but works. You can actually build a little circuit that will completely negate the need for the rear O2 using a timer to give the PCM an approximation of perfect catalyst operation.

Figured I'd update... Still running the stock tune since I haven't had a chance to put the custom tune back on. No codes thrown for me

That's a good read,made me go look for the board they're using,but discovered there's a few to choose from,lol.

Yea theirs is a bit nicer than anything I ever built. The one's I've built before were similar to these with radio shack parts and a sealed project box.

It was 20 years ago when I was playing with a supercharged Buick, and about all we were doing back then was splicing in resistors, this set-up would of been a lot nicer. The resistor trick only prolonged the time it took the dash light to turn on,lol.
Crap I got most of this stuff laying around, lol.

^^^^ If that's true, you better go back to that dealer forever and ever and ever!!!!!!!! My only question would be if you have a major failure, doesn't the factory make the final warranty decision and not the dealer? I guess if the factory denied the claim the dealer would have to eat the cost if they said your warranty was still intact. I think I'd want something in writing.

The dealer isn’t the one who says ya or nay for a power train warranty claim. It’s the power train warranty centre.

I can’t see why anyone would deny a claim based on headers. I’ve never seen a claim get denied for any exhaust mods.

Put a CAI on and it sucked up a bunch of water? Then ya, they likely wouldn’t warranty it.

I'm not sure how that warranty deal works exactly. I was at the local ram dealer and was talking to one if the tech's who was doing a cam/ lifter job. He said warranty wanted them to replace the 1 lifter that was bad but he said they didn't go by that, they replaced cam and all lifters. Didn't get into who was footing the bill for all that.
