Try RMI25 and cheap checking overflow for junk. You are like one year past ground zero for casting sand, but it is very likely you have it. Rim-25 non corrosive non toxic detergent that benefits the entire cooling system.

Clogged heater core. If flushing didn't work your probably going to need to replace it.

.
So when I flushed my heater core..it was a steady stream of water coming out the heater core hoses..I flushed in both directions and had lots of water coming out..do you still think it would be clogged?

Do I have to drain my antifreeze and add it with just water or can I just put it in my rad with the antifreeze?

if you like sure

It's just easier the other way most of the time, thanks to temperature fluid is constantly being added and taken from tank.

Did you hit it with air and water? House water pressure is a lot higher than your cooling systems runs at so what may look good while flushing doesn't work well in use. I got a combo air/water gun on Amazon for $20 and it worked great. From talking to others and researching it seems the air is key to dislodge things.

Textbook clogged heater core.... flush it out! You probably have pieces of crud in there bouncing around causing intermittent clogs. I'm no mechanic and it took me a couple hours and <$50 in parts. Lots of threads around here on it lately.

Yeah, this sounds like a chunk of something getting stuck at different spots as it works its way through the heater core, especially since he doesn't have dual zone heating which in my mind eliminates blend doors as the culprit.

100% clogged heater core. Enough water gets around the clogeed area that it will pass through no problem and also both hoses will still be hot but you will have no heat.

I flushed my heater core with CLR and used a small circulating pump hooked to heater core and bucket , ran it with CLR for 40 min and wow lots of fine material came out .. then flushed straight water through till all CLR out and now all is good lots of heat and even both sides of cab..

In the old days we'd use a water/air pressure (20psi max) technique to flush cooling systems. Even after a chemical treatment that method flushed out a lot of stuff sometimes.

That's the same method I used. After getting the coolant out I ran a few gallons of water through it. Then I used the circulating pump to run fresh water through it for about an hour. After that I switched over to a gallon of water and two 28 ounce bottles of CLR and let the pump circulate it for another hour. Flushed all of that out and blew some low pressure air through to dry things up. Time consuming job but totally worth it because I now have great heat in the cab.
