I know you weren't trying to hide anything, you took better care of that truck than most people do their own children, lol.

But a lot of people these days are so quick to point their finger and pass the blame onto somebody else.

Lol! You are right. He definitely has not pointed a finger at me... and I doubt he will, but I am ready for anything.

I did walk him through returning the tune to stock, over the phone. That way when the dealer hooks up their obd2 if won't create a whole nother problem.

Yeah, it's unfortunate for the new owner, but also sad that the trans doesn't hold up for ****...

That's my biggest fear with my truck... I'm already budgeting for a trans... just wish there was more "built" products for the 545's cause I plan on putting some power through it, but it will prob be the weak link always....

It sounds crazy but I've been wondering how much work computer wise and fab wise would it be to get a Viper's 6 speed in there.

It does suck he blew it up in a matter of 3 weeks, but lots of HP and a weak trans and a heavy foot equals a dent in the ole pocket book

Congrats on the Jeep. A few things to note coming from the jeep world...

- If you lower it, other jeep owners may rag on you a lot. A few will be cool and respect that each person has their own idea of what they want. Most forums are about building the jeep and to 99% of jeep owners that means lift and big tires.

- If you think you want bigger tires in the future, see if you can change to 4.10 gears. The new 6 speed is supposed to be way better than the 5 speed I had in my 08, so it may be livable with 3.73s. When I went to 35s, my 3.73s seems way underpowered. I ended up with 4.88s and 35s and it seemed a perfect match. Went to 37s and was like, F'k I shoulda got 5.13s.

- ALL Wrangler have removable tops, both hard top & soft top. Some come with both tops so you can switch back & forth.

- If you want to trick out your jeep but don't intend to rock crawl it, you can get light weight aluminum bumpers and sliders. There are some great products out there: I was drooling over Savvy Offroad's bumpers before I traded the jeep. They also make aluminum half doors.

- whatever you decide, throw a couple pics up in this thread just to "stick around"

I do feel bad for the guy, but I also don't doubt he was hauling some serious ass on that long, straight, hot, drive to and from Vegas!

Great tips man, thanks!
From my understanding the 4.10s are only available on the Rubicons. My choices in the sport are 3.21 and 3.73, but I won't be putting much bigger tires on it, so I am good with the gear ratio. I did drive the 3.21 and 3.73 back to back to compare, and the 3.73 is quiet sufficient for a mall crawler (for now).

I am second guessing the whole lowering idea... lol. I really don't want it low, as much as I want it to corner a little better. Here is my stupid idea: install Eiback lowering springs and then add spacers to bring it almost back to factory height. Then slap some Bilsteins on there and see what happens!

There are some really cool mods to be done on the JKs and my list is growing by the day! :favorites13:

Definitely! Btw, did you read were I posted about the zf 8psd? The $110,000 top-of-the-line Range Rover has the same transmission as the Rams! I was reading a Range Rover build sheet the other day, and I was excited to tell you 8 speed owners about it!!!

RR are way over priced... are they nice?... VERY... would I drop $110K on one?... not a chance. It would be nice if I could get an 8 speed behind my truck, but I don't wanna deal with more electronics.

if you owned a RR you would never drive it because it would be in the shop all the time. and since there are only 7 RR shops in the entire continent you would drive it less then never

You should tell that to all the dumb rich ***** who I am ashamed to call my neighbors... Lol! Rich white people in SoCal are buying these RRs faster than they hit the lots!

I admit they are a dream to drive, though. Last month, I drove a Mercedes GL550 and a RR, both over $100k. Hands down I would take the RR over the MB, and I'm German!

Kind of crazy news regarding my truck, I sold a few weeks ago...

Just got a call from the new owner, the transmission is toast and he is stranded in the middle of nowhere on his way back from Vegas. Only 10,000 miles on it.

Yikes! He must have been beating the **** out of that thing...

hahaha.. Karma is a *****..

Didn't you say he didn't know much about cars.

That's thing if going to so beat up when that dude gets done with it.

The 545 is a fine trans in stock form and a few bolts ons but it's not made for high HP and beating the **** outa if it.

The ZF is better but it's not perfect, there's been many with issues on here. Not saying it's better than the 545 by any means.

Yep, I think he is relatively clueless, but a really nice guy... I am honestly shocked that the trans went so quickly. That thing drove like new when it left my hands and now it's on the back of a flat bed.

Wow, that is wildly off topic... Pretty sure the grill and bumper were slightly re-designed for 2013 and that will not fit your truck. Welcome to RF!

Bummer ! Always liked your R/T. Mine had the ZF and after two manual up shifts on the steering wheel while smacking rev limiter and two loud clunks I think the trans took a major hit. Ended up just trading it after the guy rear ended it. Was the icing on the cake.

Enjoy your new jeep.

The grille/front bumper were redesigned for 2013 (for the 1500 only, though). I wonder if you had both the grille and bumper piece if they swap without modification.
