Just out of curiosity, is there a way to roll back? I ask because in reading the PDF brief regarding this software upgrade, it did not bring much to the table for RAM Trucks. Other models got some enhancements and some fixes but I think only some small bluetooth update. Rollback beats New Hub + harness =$150.00

Nope. No way to roll back easily.

I have heard outfits like Navrepair can roll back but don't have any experience with them.

I've read/heard the Panasonics are like Cell phones in that you need to access the secure boot sector to replace the OS image, As I do a lot of Android "stuff" I can say it's an intensive process AND not always successful, upgrade Hub, or Trade/Replace sadly I think it's your only option(s)

In fact, the next generation of these radios is said to be Android based...

Definitely @Mpgrimm2 at M2mods they pay $ to be a vendor here on the forum and designed all the harnesses that make the electronic swaps in Rams possible. Their harnesses, tech support and knowledge are beyond supreme.

If you have a Jumpseat, I recommend you take a look at this post, and decide which hub you want to use and/or change the shell to fit.

If you have a console, take a look at...
Bottom of this post.

Send me a message to get things started

I totally agree with the above posts even though I have only been here a short time. I will be looking to buy a new hub. however I am a tinkerer and I feel "what is the worst that can happen?" I will mess with the original hub.
I have determine from a few test that I ran tonight that the usb port is just not powered. What did they change with the softwate? Was it the wiring? How does the new harness work? Did they switch the wires?
I will pull mine out and examine. It is currently not working, it cannot get any worse. I will report back after my experiment. If it worked b4 and the new one is using the same wire, there must be some commonality. My SD card is still working so it might be just something on the circuit board/wiring. I will check it out.

I think your on the Right track, there are certain standards that all components must adhere to to be sold in NA and have to pass both CE and FCC filings and testing the difference in the RFC for USB A and USB C have commonality just that USB C more features then the original

You're not wrong, but the more likely scenario is that the later firmware (software) doesn't support the earlier USB hub (hardware). This is likely due to the drivers (software instructions for hardware) being removed because there was no scenario where the manufacturer used the newer radios with the older hubs.

I do hope you are successful though but I'm doubtful you will find a hardware/wiring solution to this.

Can you use the 2020 Ram Classic radios?
I got a line on a near brand new one, truck was a 2020 classic that fell off the transport truck. 5km on the odometer. Still has the protective film.

Most likely yes. It should work just fine.

Okay I need some help - I'd like to Fill the rest of the FAKRA connectors with the proper hardware appropriate for my 2500 I know one of the connections (Magenta?) is for the Shark Fin but research show 1500's the one 2500 schematic showed part Shark and flat GPS with a marrying harness.

And what of Pink and Red Connectors? I'll deal with the Functionality later

Thanks to any who have the answers

On a 2500 truck with a UAQ/UAS radio, the purple connector is cellular and the yellow connector is satellite, and they both come from the shark fin antenna. The pink connector is GPS, and comes from the gps antenna mounted above the back of the radio under the center of the dash. The red connector is for a digital camera, and unused on a ram. Having the puck plugged into the yellow connector gives you satellite and gps, so you gain nothing by adding the other antennas, since you can’t get guardian anyway.

Many have tried, none have succeeded...
The original VIN is no longer in the radio. Use AlfaOBD to connect to the radio navigator module, and you will see the radio now has your VIN as the current and original. Once you installed it on your truck and went through a key cycle, the radio pulled your VIN. That’s what guardian will now see- a VIN that was built without the capability of adding guardian.

Grabbing this one if needed.

If you are upgrading from a 3.0 or 5.0 radio to an 8.4 (13-17 Harmon or Panasonic. Not sure if anyone has confirmed the 8.4 conversion on an 18 truck), here's a link to the 8.4 conversion thread for details (start at post 2 & 3)...

- DIY: 2013-2017 RA3/RA4 8.4" Radio Upgrade/HVAC Conversion.
(Resurrected thread after it was deleted again)

------------------ 4/25/18 edit ------------------

Just an 'issue' update for those installing the UAQ/UAS radio in their truck...

We have a few reports:
See: Gibbs' .HVAC Issues w/UAS upgrade

A lack of 'full' heat after radio install using the previously recommended 13-17 HVAC modules from the earlier Ra3/Ra4 upgrade method. (Blend door not making full travel)

** EDIT: adding ATC option fixed issue on all cases including those where HVAC module swap didn't and allowed 13-17 modules to work **

- Guido2112 's 17 1500 (fixed w/new module)
- Gibbs ' 18 2500 (fixed w/new 18 module)

** Ckleinfeld 's 15 1500 (used mod. didn't work). .See here

We have identified the correct 18 HVAC modules ...
Code:
As DeereGuy stated, it appears that on 2018 trucks ...
- 68366552AA = 2014+ 1500 trucks w/8.4 radios (MTC & ATC)
ie factory 7 speed fan (w/Variable Displacement A/C Compressor)

- 68366553AA = 2013+ 2500/3500 & 2013 1500 trucks w/8.4 radios (ATC)
ie factory 4 speed fan (w/Sgl speed A/C Compressor)

Here's how Sawz fixed the 2018 USB hub cutout issue on his earlier console.See here.

For those that want to purchase the entire 2018 Console Lid Assy (includes premium dual USB hub & 2018 lid wiring) here are some PNs and pricing from forum Vendor Benny at AllMoparParts.com ...

** Please see my post in CircuitGuy's Dash swap thread, post 40, for details about the panel light wiring mod if installing this in a 13-17 console truck (or to may drain the battery just plugging it in)**
