How To: Install a 2018 4C (UAQ/UAS) Radio in 2013 - 2017 RAM

Slightly confused here. I have a 21 Classic Tradesman with the Media hub that has the USB icon (left) and then the battery Icon (right) with the 3.5mm in the center.
I just ordered part # 68328704AD
Do i need a different harness for this to work in my tuck or is it plug and play ?
I also ordered Part # 68331631AM (Radio) for the car play.

You're truck already has the 8 pin connector for the USB Hub. No adapter Harness needed.

My 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 5.0 to 8.4 NAV/CarPlay upgrade was a huge success...thanks to MP Grimm2! Got my bezel, harnesses, sensors, modules, Media Hub, etc. through him...a lot of instructions as well. The Chrysler 200 Media Hub worked perfectly in my jumpseat console to run Android Auto and CarPlay Just wanted to shout-out my gratitude to the hard-working folks on RamForum like MP Grimm2!

Just wanted to say again how awesome it was to work with MP Grimm2 for my 5.0 Ucpnnect to my 8.4 UAQ upgrade! Everything still works GREAT

Ok need a little help on this. I just upgraded to a UAS 4C radio and my hub is not doing anything. Prior to this I had a VP3 installed and my hub worked just fine. I connect my phone and it connects and plays my music so I know it was working just fine for iPhone I check the settings for mirror screen on my radio and nothing. Is this a situation where I have to let the radio sit overnight to update? I have not drove it anywhere I just installed the radio and this is where I’m at.

That hub doesn't work with iphone for Carplay... It does work with Android though.
You need the xxxxx704AC or AD listed on the op

doing this mod did not work for me and my 2013 ram.
I had ordered a 68331635AD UAQ radio every thing seemed fine until it got to the point after going to sleep and to tryin get to the temp controls on the factory install ATC. I only had hi-lo as an option (now mind you, i had full temp controls with the new radio and ATC BEFORE it sat and went to sleep to get the rest of the programming, like backup cam and sirius, once i had those, hvac would only do the hi-lo thing.)

I went thru all the resets and fuse pulling and battery cable disconnects, waited days, till i was blue in the face. it's not from the lack of trying..it just doesn't work.

i got rid of the radio as i was totally unable to get any help with this. and out 275 bux of parts i can't use.

That's a shame you had that experience....

Who did you get the conversion harness from?


This is a known issue with the UAx upgrade on 13-17 trucks (& some 18/classic) and could have been fixed up front. It's built into all my 8.4 conversion harnesses for 2013 trucks and 13-18 2500/3500's (additional parts required for the 1500's).

Hi Guys

I just installed a UAQ in my '15 RAM 1500. I am in canada and the GPS seems to be stuck in the province from which the unit came? It has been sitting for a couple of hours. Secondly, the unit does not seem to be figuring out that I have alpine sound installed and front door speakers have bad sound. Most sound plays from speakers at the windshield?

Went back to plug in the old radio. GPS satellites connect within seconds. New radio, satellites are dead? Faulty head unit or is there an incompatible GPS reciever? Sirius XM still works and goes dead when I unplug the yellow fakra connector, so that means satellite radio still works.

I had a UAQ in my truck, until I bricked it, and everything worked just fine - 2014 1500. Must be a bad unit.

that would have been great when i asked you about it in PM a while back. but all you told me was to go thru the reset procedures....i did ask you about a harness, but you said that was all the suggestion you had.

but i got my harness from infotainment. i tried with and without the harness. even went as far as a 2018 module.

when put every back to original, now i have no heat.

So Here are the details:

2015 RAM 1500. Factory fitted with VP4 & GPS, With mic's in headliner & rear view mirror, auto dimming rearview and drivers mirror, dual zone ATC with heated/cooled seats, remote start, backup camera and VR Buttons on steering wheel. No Cargo Cam (will be the next installation), but I do have a backup cam with displays on the radio itself.

Here is the original radio part number: 68238626AF. I replaced it with a UAQ part number 68331632AH. The new radio came out of a 2018 RAM 1500 and the build sheet clearly states apple car play and android auto with navigation. No additional parts have been installed or replaced, just the head unit for now. Just checked the truck this morning and all is working except for the GPS, besides that, no issues at all. Would it work if I checked with on of those amazon chinese GPS modules? I have one in the ford after upgrading to the sync 3 radio and cheap fakra GPS antenna.

So tonight I installed one of those cheap GPS antennas I took from the ford, I have the same result. Plugged it into the VP4, works without any issue, just asked for a recalibration. I then went ahead and installed the same antenna on the UAQ and still no GPS. I know the antenna works in the ford without an issue. I scanned for fault codes and I get none. Last thing I can think is that I have a faulty UAQ unit?? This is the 4th u it I am testing, but the first one with the correct part number. Others were from 2020 model rams with the new style unit.
