Have seen posts about the MY15 Siri update. Having a radio not knowing the VIN it came out of, what are my options? Can I use the VIN of any 2015 truck that came with an RA4? Any guess on when the new one will be posted for download on this thread?

Yes, that should work. As long as you're sure of the model year. You can look at your current firmware version to see if it is 2015 radio firmware as an extra precaution.

If you have an actual RAM radio (vs Cherokee), you can verify the PN against the Pn's in the op to identify the year and use the appropriate VIN.
( hold Hot + Cold + Front Defrost to get into dealer mode)

I will likely download and re-host the fw in the thread this weekend. (I have a VIN for each year to use).

Is this new Siri update worth it? I have a Galaxy S5 so was wondering. And And does anyone notice anything else?. Seems odd to do a whole release for just this.

I loaded this update , was hesitant for a bit but i used donor VIN for my RA4 and downloaded the proper version. Not sure how Siri works, pressing voice button and now help menu shows. Response to commands seems quicker but that's all. Press,and hold voice button dosent change anything. Debating if I like the response better than the help page showing now but not sure how to turn it off. Might reinstall last update but will play with it more first. Is Siri tied to having a iphone??

Engineering Mode

To others, please share your radio year & PN:
If you press and hold both the temperature-up (red arrow) and temperature-down (blue arrow) buttons at the same time, for 5 or so seconds, you are presented with the "Engineering Menu"

How do you get to engineering mode on 8.4an that has the old knobs? I upgraded the radio from 5.0 and installed the custom bezel allowing me to use my old a/c controls.

You can't do it without the correct bezel which is anther reason why, for the money, most go for the full conversion...

There are just more things that don't work when using that Oemautoparts bezel, especially touch control of the HVAC functions.

I don't know for sure.
Does the Cherokee part number match any of the Ram part numbers from the OP?

Hopefully one of the other guys who did the upgrade with a Cherokee radio will answer.

That is the same part number for 2015 RAM VP4 NA/RA4.

Have a look at the OP and post 4. I think you should be OK with the RAM fw files since the Pn's match. Just make sure you are using the fw that matches your radio pn.

Let us know how it goes. Some have had issues with their 2015 RA4's not accepting the update files. It can always be sketchy, and some choose to leave well enough alone if it works as is.

Hi Everyone,

I've run into an issue with the new 16.16.3 firmware on my 2015 Ram 1500 with 8.4A UConnect. Does anyone have 15.x firmware copy available? I posted in another section of the forum and it was suggested I mention my issues here.


I upgraded my UConnect 8.4A in my 2015 Ram 1500 to the latest UConnect software the day after it came out. Roughly five days ago. Ever since then it's been a total disaster. Has anyone else had problems?

-Sits for several minutes when I start the vehicle up. No audio. It will say it's playing something, it's not. I can switch sources, turn volume up and down, etc
-Screen in the dash will say different source
-Buttons unclickable, or clickable an do nothing (strangely, the in dash screen will say I did something else - for example, I'll click an FM preset. It'll say I clicked the same present in AM, ex: it'll say I clicked farthest right AM station not FM station)
-Track progress will freeze, but continues to play. Minutes later it'll slide through all the songs that just played, and catch up. Literally it'll slide through a five minute progress bar in 3-4 seconds, through each song, until caught up.

I never had any issue like this pre-upgrade. It's gotta be the software as no device I connect have changed, etc. Has anyone experienced similar problems?

Does anyone have a couple of the older version? (15.x). I just want to roll back to it.

What is your radio s part number?

If it in the fw file's part number list you may, may be able to use one of the fw files from the OP / post 4 at your own risk. (Ib would have to look issue the fw file for you)

Edit: I would first try reflashing the radio again with the FW you already downloaded onto the USB.

I will try reflashing it again after work, barring it miraculously starts behaving.
