This may be a sort of dumb question but i am relatively new to Rams. I just bought a 2014 2500 big horn with the 6.4 hemi in it. Seeing alot of stuff about MDS and just curious as to tell if my truck is equipped with it and how do i get rid of it. I know on the Chevys they have AFM and a simple tune can nix that problem. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Do a light show up on the dasha anywhere that says eco? That's the mds kicking in.

You can either use a tuner to get rid of it the expensive way. Or just put your truck into 6 gear everytime you go to drive it. This is the cheap way

It can be turned off with a custom program. I got a Diablosport programmer and custom tune package through Moe's Performance/Hemifever.

The programmer was easy to use and Hemifever's custom tune really woke up my 2014 6.4L 2500.

Its second nature as this point to shift those gears up and disable the "M.opar D.isappointing S.hit"

The Eco light and the MDS are two separate systems. Usually the Eco light can be turned off by your "control" options on your truck. The MDS needs to be turned off by an external electronic device.

I havent noticed an eco light or anything like that and i looked up my build sheet and i dont see it mentioned anywhere so i must be ok then.

I had a diablo tuner on my silverado half ton and it woke it up pretty well too. I have been seeing stuff on here that if i do a tune i need a new pcm is that accurate for my truck?

Also fella who posted the video your truck sounds good what do you have for exhaust thatll be on my list of things to upgrade on the new truck.

All the Eco light does is indicate when you are driving economically. It has more to do with your right foot than it has to do with the engine.

It usually does, but not necessarily. You can be traveling on the highway with the cruise on and MDS activated and the Eco light on and when the truck accelerates to maintain speed the Eco light will go off but the truck will still have the MDS activated.

Interesting...well on my truck for sure when ECO is displayed i can hear the exhaust note change and i can tell im only on 4 cylinders.

When i shift to manual mode no eco is ever displayed and never any exhaust change so it must be disabled in manual mode.

If they aren't tied together they are very closely related

They are closely related, but not "tied" to each other. They are two separate systems. They can work independently.

i've had eco come on exactly once when i had the mds disabled. i was cruising at highway speed at the time and not passing..or slowing down. just a steady 65 mph cruise. and it popped on. almost like it thought "oh yeah, mds isn't on, i shouldn't be lit".

lol

That is incorrect, the "ECO" light is not tied into the "MDS" system.
Thanks for setting me straight fellas!

ECO light just an Indication that U R driving in an economical manner. For my truck, that means, going down hill, foot off of gas, wind pushing, LOL

So does using the gear selector to turn off mds stop the eco light coming on?

Cuz even if coasting down hill. Foot off gas, I dont get an eco light lol.

Do U have the indicator enabled in your EVIC?

Because in MY 12, and MY 15, I could turn on or off. Same for the MY 19, IMHO...
