Hello Members I’m looking at a 2007 Megacab. It’s owner indicates it says labeled 1500 by technically it’s on a 2500 frame and axles 8 lug wheels. The difference is the spring capacity only. Is this true to the fact or is there any other differences?? Like different gearing.

Did he convert a 1500 in to a 2500? Take the vin number to the dealer and they should be able to tell u exactly what it is

That is exactly how my 2007 2500 MegaCab was equipped. Mine came with 3.73:1 gears, 8-lug axles with a 2500 frame & some suspension pieces were from the 1500. I don't think they made a MegaCab with a 1500 frame and suspension.

If the one you are looking at has 8-lug wheels then it's definitely sitting on 2500 underpinnings.

I'd run the VIN through a dealer to get a build sheet or you can run the VIN here:

That is absolutely true (as MADDOG said). The 1500 refers to the cargo and towing capacity of the truck since you have a gasser. If it had come with a Cummins then it would be classified a 2500. Functionally for parts replacement, etc, it's pretty much a 2500.

Agreed #3 with @MADDOG & @HemiLonestar .....

The 1500 Mega and 2500 Mega are identical trucks except for 1 leaf spring. ...... and of course towing and load capacity. Another member and I , @SYKRAMMAN went back and forth comparing and researching the differences in our Rigs; his is a 1500 and mine is a 2500.

The only thing I’m not sure is if you can get (or find) a 1500 Mega with a Cummins.......?
