@Burla ,Mike what are your thoughts on mixing Pup and Redline? I can buy Pup onsale for next to nothing compared to Redline,so i was thinking of running a half and half mix of the 2,and should i throw a small 10oz bottle of Lubegard in the crankcase with the mix.

I do have a PM Rick :)

Verify with Travis on what oils have some esters, as I am out of that loop, my info is more aged like me. New oil formulas are using more and more esters and pao to deal with thinning oil specs like SQ. I think I'd generally avoid it but if I was to do it I would use one qrt redline as opposed 1/2 and 1/2. Now, we don't even know what PUP will be because Dorothy went byby on gtl. I can say generally speaking redline is compatible historically, but if it were me I'd only take one girl to the dance.

Rotella, quaker state, Pennzoil, etc all formulas are going to have to change.

I was going to PM you,but thought other guys might like to know this also :waytogo:
I have enough Redline on hand to do the oil change, but i also have (2) 4 quart jugs of Pup on hand, and lots of lubegard,so i was looking for a way to extend my Redline stock so i could get 2 oil changes out of it,before having to buy more, and use up the Pup i also have.
Hopefully Travis joins in with his opinions to.;)

Lol but honestly, PUP has a small amount of ester and im not sure if its POE or like a borate ester as it does have a good slug of boron. I feel like mixing would be fine but like burla i do like to take one girl to the dance as well. Mobil 1 ESP 0w20, 0w-30, and 0w-40 all have a good amount of ester to, the 5w-30 esp less so but its still there in a small amount. The new m1 EP oils also have a small amount of ester to. Whats AMSOIL supply like up there? Might be a good option to if cheaper than redline

Amsoil is tougher to find,as i'd have to hunt up a dealer. Mobil 1 isn't to hard to find,as our local Canadian Tire stores also carry it along with PUP,and put both on sale fairly often. The reason i was asking about the PUP,is because i have it on hand, and was looking for a way to use it up,as i'm getting tired of looking at it :Big Laugh: I also have a fair bit of Lubegard on hand to,from when i was running PUP in the wifes 6.4 Challenger, and wouldn't be adverse to adding a small 10oz bottle of it,to the mix if there was any benefit to it.I know with straight Redline, you don't want to use Lubegard, but if i'm mixing PUP and Redline,i'm not adverse to adding it if needed.

What would be your reconmendation Travis,as i trust your opinion to,about mixing the 2,and what ratio of the 2 would you mix.

Just don’t ask the forum for a recommendation on what oil filter to use.
