New AT tires

Very pleased with the Falkens on my truck. I used to be a die hard BFG guy on all of my Jeeps. Granted, the Ram is much heavier and I am running LT Falkens...Road performance is excellent, the tires ate up the snow we did get this year. Havent regretted them one bit, and they look pretty sharp as well...

Not here in SC (only had them a few weeks) but they feel like they'd do well. They are about 5lbs heavier than the stock GY SRA'S and I took about a 1 mpg hit on gas mileage (35 mi to work each way @70 mph [emoji6] ). Nearly as quiet as the SRA tires too.

The gas issue isn't a huge deal as this is a 3rd vehicle so I won't be putting a ton of miles on it. Those AT3w's are sold too. I just looked at them.

I have the Cooper ATS 4S. I bought them in November. They have been outstanding in the snow and rain, and they make absolutely NO more noise than the factory Goodyears I replaced.

I second that. Best riding AT tire I have ever owned.

I agree the Goodyear tires suck. I had 2 sets of Cooper AT3s on my Tundra and put them on my wife's jeep (awesome tires and wear like iron, 55 to 60000 miles on each set). If I dont trade my 2017 Ram in on a new Tundra it will also get Coopers.

New to the forum here as I just picked up a new (to me) 13' Ram 1500. 5.7 Hemi with a 3.92 rear end. So far I'm loving the truck, but looking at upgrading the tires on it. Current Wrangler SRAs are like running slicks on anything but dry pavement. I live in the Chicago area so wet/snow/ice traction is very important. Come fall it'll see some off-road mud and 2-tracks for hunting, but still want good road manners. I'll tow a 20' boat a couple times a year is all so I don't think I need anything more than a standard passenger load tire. I'll be getting them at Discount Tire and have narrowed it down to 3.

-Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain ATs - $220/tire
-Falken AT3s - $200/tire
-Cooper AT3 4S - $200/tire

I'm torn on all 3. I like the looks and more aggressive tread of the Goodyear, the Falkens seem to be loved on here, and the Coopers seem to be getting great reviews and have the best mileage warranty. Are the Wranglers worth the extra $80/set over the others? Are the Falkens the right in between tire, or go with the Coopers that won SEMA?

I put Cooper Discoverer AT/W all weather tires on mine and they work great ... I'm in Canada so we get more snow and ice up here ... These tires carry the mountain and snowflake logo and are excellent for all year usage ... Good on the highway as well ...

I just bought my 15 Ram 2 months ago and will need tires before winter. It has Firestones on it now.
I will definitely be looking at Nexens, have had them on 3 different vehicles. Great in snow and on highway.
I do have Falkens on my 95 k2500. They did well plowing snow this winter.
If I had 17" wheels, I would put Goodrich Commercial traction tires on. Had them on a 89 k2500. Had to look for reasons to put the truck in 4wd. And drove it all over the country. Would have put them on the 95, but could not justify over 200/tire for a truck that was only being used locally and for winter.

The new 4s look like they will do every bit as well in the snow/ice and handle other off road scenarios better. Plus they look a bit better IMO. Thanks for the feedback. I haven't really talked to anyone who doesn't like Cooper.

I looked at full reviews on Tire Rack. For my needs, good snow and wet traction, good braking, quiet, decent mileage. The top rated tire was Firestone Destination ATs. Close behind was the Yokohama Geolander ATs. The Yokohamas were about $40 per tire cheaper than the Firestones, and I'm really satisfied with them thus far. 8k miles. Everything they were touted for: wet, snow, dry traction, and quiet. Haven't had to stand on the brakes yet. Will probably stay with the Yokohamas and upgrade to 33" (285s) when this set wears out.

275/60r20s are a 33" tire if you're already running that. Thats the factory size on mine anyways.
