the book recommends 89 octane for the hemi.... its really hard to find 89 here 86 and 88 are easier to find....

I'm sure there isn't much difference between 88 and 89...

anyone else run into this problem? what octane do you use or do you use a octane booster??

Cool... I've never heard of 86 or 88 octane before... only ever 87, 89 and 91... with the odd place in the country selling 93...

Lot of people are running Diablo tuners. I have the Diablo Trinity and I'm running a hemifever 91 octane tune since I know I can find it almost anywhere

Never even heard of anywhere having less than 87 before. Here it's Regular 87, mid grade 89, premium 91 and 94 available at some petro cans and shells. As for your question 88 will be fine, you'll find it does say "89 recommended, 87 acceptable"

i do wonder how that would go down in the event of a warranty claim

every gas station near me only has 87 so that's what i usually run. really i only run 89 if i happen to be near it and need gas but that's pretty rare and mainly only happens on long trips

Sounds like the OP is located at a higher elevation as local octane availability is based on elevation.. (Relates to the amount of oxygen in the air)

93 everywhere here in Houston. No such thing as 93 in Denver,,,

I putz around with 87 all the time,,, Because, I'm just putzing around,,,

Might use 89 on highway trips,,,

I've never heard of anyone ever having warranty issues because of the gas put in. Short of putting diesel in a gas job or vice versa, I'd never expect a problem.

i had a bully dog on my last truck and used 91, not sure to add one to my new truck or not i liked the bully dog for the monitoring things but my evil tells me everything i need to know.. and for power my 14 has more power than my 08 with the bulldog.

diesel in a gas engine actually isn't too bad, it's the other way around that can cause some serious damage

i always thought the Hemi was designed to use 89 octane and runs better with 89..?

its possible to find 89 here just not at every gas station lol.
