Trying to figure out why my remote start works when it wants to. It works as designed about 80% of the time? Why is that? Am I pushing the button to fast, to slow? Is it just the way it is?

Mine is the same....but it's mostly a proximity thing. If I'm more than a 100 feet away from the truck it's likely not going to work.

My remote starts on other vehicles I've owned had far better operating distance.

I'd replace battery to see if that makes a difference.

It’s likely a range isssue, the range on the factory remote start isn’t that great. If you place the fob under your chin it will give you a little extra range, no I’m not joking.

I just hold the remote up to my chin and get more range that way.

Maybe that’s why I’m loosing my mind at 45! Hmm [emoji848]

^^^ What these two said- it’s habit now for me to hold it under my chin or next to my jaw when I trigger my fob- I can remote start from at least 200 ft

Also fuel& check engine lights.
When fuel light is on or a check engine light is on. The remote start will not work.

Honestly mine works from 200 yards away easy on my 13 ram. I do have to push the buttons kinda slowly. If I go real fast it might not start on first try. I wait about a full second before I push it every time.

I played with it earlier today and the key seems to be a two count between clicks of the button. Never had a range problem. I can start mine from 300 feet easily.

^ i honestly haven’t checked footage, I just know when at a distance I need to be able to see the lights cause I can’t hear the horn to tell if it received the command. “ I am to far away”

It's a bit quirky.

I can press the remote start button twice fast, and it will start within like 10 yards......but doesn't start if I'm NOT in line of sight..

I long press the same button twice, meaning press each time for a solid second and release, and it starts much further out, and NOT in the line of sight.

Either way I'm still happy with it, works wonders when it's hot out here.
