replacing K02s

My son has a 2018 2500 6.4 and put K02s on at 12,000 miles. Well he is just over 60,000 now and will be replacing them tomorrow so he got about 48,000 out of them. The fronts are still about 50% but he said Jiffy Lube did his oil changes and they always told him they didn't have a jack heavy enough to rotate his tires. Find that hard to believe but they wouldn't do it. And since he is on the road he can't do it himself

Ok if I'm wrong the OP can set me straight. But from his own words it seems to be the case since he said the fronts still have 50% left. I don't know what other conclusion to come to based off the information provided.

If they don't have a jack heavy enough to rotate his tires I am assuming they mean they don't have a jack to lift a 2500 Ram. Because what difference would the brand of tire make? I see no reason to change from the KO2's - they are superb tires.

For what it's worth, I can't bring my 2500 through the Express lane for oil changes at the dealer because the lift is rated for 6,000# max- I'd have to schedule an appointment for an oil change. Riiiiight. Not a problem, I'll change my own oil now and see how the truck likes Mobil1 euro 0w-40 (hard to find SN oil on a shelf) and Wix XP filters.

My 5,000# floor jack does not enjoy jacking up the rear axle of the truck and I wouldn't ask anyone to do it on a regular basis. Perhaps they're like Tire Warehouse and use floor jacks rather than lifts for rotations and as pointed out, cannot deal with the weight of the 2500 moreso than the BFG tires as they're both heavy. Tire Warehouse has no issues doing my tire rotations with floor jacks, so there's that. I don't think I've ever been to a Jiffy Lube and I'm okay with that.

Ok wise ass! He works 6 days a week 12 hours a day far from home. Hand picking a shop isn't a luxury for him. He gets his oil changed about once a month (yeah he has put 55,000 miles on it in 13 months). He has had them rotated a few times but the only place open on Sunday where he is is a Jiffy Lube so he doesn't have a choice and hasn't had them rotated in awhile because of where he is at right now. They refuse to rotate his tires. He also has to provide his own oil because none of the places he has went has had 0W-40. Last time he was home he did swap the fronts and rears since the rears were worn much more but he doesn't have the luxury, ability, or tools to do this himself while on the road. He had to take 2 vacation days for tomorrow and Saturday to get his annual inspection because nobody could do it on a Sunday so he drove home tonight to get it done tomorrow. And since he is working almost 4 hours away from home there is no point in him going back out there to work Saturday. His job really hinders his lifestyle and makes it hard for him to do anything. He lives in his camper and had to take a vacation day to buy his camper and had to do everything in 1 day. Yeah his job sucks but he has student loans that are more than many peoples mortgages so has to do what he has to do for now. Nobody will hire a college grad with less than at least 3 years experience around here so he is stuck there until he builds his resume and even then his pay will be almost cut in 1/2 so he is making it while he can.

Sounds like a studious hard working guy. I can't find a question in your post either, but I'm guessing you were asking for tire recommendations? He could take a look at Cooper AT3 XLT. They have good reviews. All AT tires do need consistent rotations though.

He had to go with a no name brand this time. He called around and nobody had anything in stock. I don't even know the name of the brand he got but I never heard of them. His inspection expired the end of July and he has been driving with it expired. He had a cracked windshield he had to get replaced too before inspection.

Wasn't you. It was @ScLeCo talking about my sons 'character' or whatever you want to call it.

But yeah, that is his regular schedule. He would work less if he could. The worst part is he is salary so no OT for all those hours but he gets a healthy per diem. And he has a good floor jack but that doesn't do him any good when he is 4 hours from home and even if he had it with him he has nowhere to use it. His camper and truck are packed full when he travels so not much room for anything else. When he went to North Dakota he had to haul a few computers, monitors, and big flat screen TV from the office, on top of all of his own stuff. Heck, he got the K02's while in North Dakota and only had 12000 miles on his factory Firestones but didn't have anywhere to put them so left them at the tire shop. His truck and camper are packed when he goes to a new site. Believe me, Jiffy Lube isn't his first choice and he hates it but he doesn't have time to go anywhere else. He works on the gas pipeline so has to travel to where the sites are. He will probably be heading to Baytown, TX in a few weeks and be there about 6 months. And with his job it is hard to schedule anything. He is a safety coordinator and gets a call any time there is a work related injury or failed drug test. And if there is any safety incident he has to transport the person involved to go take a drug test. He has the freedom to leave the sites throughout the day but has to be available at all times. He did have a company truck and that was convenient as they had a shop onsite that took care of everything but he wasn't allowed to tow with a company truck so when they told him he had to go to North Dakota he only had 1 week to find a truck and buy it. It certainly isn't ideal but until he can get something closer to home it's what he has. Other jobs he has found are similar and will require travel too so no point in leaving for another one. He just got married last year and is trying to get stuff paid off before he leaves this job. When he got his marriage license he had to fly home on a Friday morning then fly back out Sunday morning. He has a house and wife back here and we all want him back here as soon as possible but there isn't anything here for him job wise. He has a B.S. degree in Safety Management but only about 2 years of experience now. It took him a year to find this job after he graduated.

Anyway, yeah the point of this post was that he got quite a few miles out of his K02's.

No. Stay away from them. I had a set go in 30K miles. I even rotated them every 5k miles. They're crap.

48000 is about normal for the kos on a hd truck. At least in my experience. The lube place probably just has 2.5 or 3 ton jacks that'll do most vehicles and a pit for oil changes so they don't need a lift for that. If you want the tires rotated dealers usually have a package to rotate them as a cheap add on or any tire shop can do it for small money usually and many will also do oil changes, but a phone call to a shop to ask will confirm pricing ahead of time saving a surprise rip off bill, plus the tire shop can check your front end at the same time while it's in the air. Just hang around so you can see what they're talking about if they try to upsell you into tie rod ends, ball joints etc.
