i got an SLT, so no fog lights
im fixing to add some ditchlights and i would like to replace my OEM headlight switch with one that has the OEM foglight position

would that be all there is to it to grab a hot from there?
i presume i would need to check my wiring harness to see if a hot from the headlights to where the fogs should be is present, anyone know which pin or color wire to look for?

(i would of course use that hot as a signal wire to post 86 on a relay and go from there)

Add the switch, enable the fogs with Alfaobd and add the two fog light pins and wires to the connector under the tipm. No need to use a relay. It’s exactly like adding factory fog lights, your just using the power in another location.

The dash headlight switch doesn't switch power like the vehicles of yesteryear. Nowadays the switches talk on a com truck to the vehicle BCM which controls the headlights/fogs.
You'll need to replace the headlight switch and add the fog light wiring harness to wire in your ditch lights.
If you talk with @Mpgrimm2 he might be able to make a custom harness with longer wiring so it will reach the ditch lights without splices.
If you do use the factory fog light wiring, it will turn off the lights when the vehicle high beams are selected unless you change the programming(disable fog light drop out) with AlfaOBD.

Thanks guys

I should have no problem doing the work (provided Google will tell me what in the world a tipm is, i guess it has nothing to do with tire pressure?)

depending on how all that works out, i just might end up adding a toggle switch to the dash

provided Google will tell me what in the world a tipm is,
TIPM - Totally Integrated Power Module or a fuse box with control relays that talks with the BCM to control just about everything in a vehicle.
Now they're usually called a Power Distribution Module.

It’s actually super easy to do. You just need pins that will fit the connector under the tipm

You may be right, and it may be all my plow wiring is in the way, but I looked at it and to me, it looks easier to just use a toggle switch

Doesn't even look like I can get at the bottom of that fuse box

Take the positive lead off and the whole unit lifts up.
