You have way more experience with this than I do I'm just reporting what I see and how the truck performs. I don't know and I'm still learning on this process give me another couple of months and I might have a different theory.

My other thought is you might have a unicorn,it's not uncommon in FCA products,lol.You're truck sure has me scratching my head,as it's definitely not running normal temps compared to other trucks.Can you see if it's still feeding coolant to the heater.There'll be a funny looking 3 way valve mounted on the pass side frame rail,basically under where the stock airbox would sit,can you take a pic of it,as i'm wondering if the coolant feed to the thermal unit might be bypassed.

Well by the looks of your pics the hoses to the tranny heater appear to be still hooked up.The Edelbrock water pump,is only for your intercooler,has nothing to do with the trucks cooling system,or the tranny.All it does is circulate it's own coolant to the intercooler which is part of your Edelbrock blower,it won't cool the engine or the tranny,all it cools is the intake air after the blower compresses the air fed into the engine.By product of compressing air is heat,and the water pump you see is the pump that circulates coolant to the intercooler under the blower to combat that heat increase in the incoming air charge.

Yup, that is my conclusion as well. Do you think Edelbrock altered the program for the active grill shutters and keeps them open to adjust trans temp?

I don't think that's possible,they might have adjusted the shutters parameters,but i'd lean more to highly unlikely,lol. I'm still thinking the same thing as CrazyKid,the tranny thermostat might be a little sticky,they have been known to stick closed and cook a transmission,never heard of one being stuck in the open position,but anythings possible these days.

I guess we'll see I got a trans service planned as soon as I get the drive shaft replaced should be around 50k miles at that point in time. It's my intent to pull the thermostat out to see if it's been altered I'm also going with the PPE pan with the replaceable filter. I don't want to disturb my 150-degree temp but I also would like to understand why it's 150 degrees

If Bigskyroadglide has a sticking thermostat toward the cool side wouldn't that be the same condition that Caulk is creating with his part? Full time flow to the cooler and zero flow to the heater?
It will be interesting to see if Caulks Temps. run similar to Bigskyroadglide's.

Like mentioned....the Edelbrock supercharger coolant system is 100% independent of the engine coolant system. There is no interconnect. Have same kit.

It would depend on if it's stuck in the fully open position or just partially open.The thing that's a bit confusing is the fact he says it warms up to around 190,then starts to drop back and with a longer drive settles in around the low 150's. By the looks of his plug covering the thermostat,the snap ring looks to never have been disturbed,which backs up his claim it's still a stock set-up,and his hoses to the thermal unit,look like they've never been touched either.He does have an early 8 speed by the looks of the date on his thermal unit,which makes me wonder if he does have a unicorn on his hands.I really got nothing,but i agree with him,i wouldn't want to screw up what he's got,as that's almost an ideal tranny temp in my opinion,lol

Been following this thread for a bit. Think I’m going to give it a go next weekend when I put on a PPE pan. Have a 3/4” rubber cap for the lower line and using my old Charger thermostat housing/neck without the “t.”

I agree on the ideal Trans. Temp. I would love to see in the 150's. I wonder if the thermostat used on his truck ( transmission bypass thermostat that is ) might have a different Temp. set point when to open and close. I think Caulk mentioned that the part numbers were different for Bigskyroadglide's truck than later years.

Changing the suffix is the standard practice for minor changes. Changing the whole part number is something more substantial. Look at that link, says it fits 13-14 and was replaced by the other number which then says it's for 18-19 etc.

It he's seeing his truck go to 180+ or whatever then settle at a lower temp, it sounds to me like the thermal unit want working right and they changed something. I'd love to have the thermostat assembly out of his truck to inspect/compare to the two I have here from crazykid's 2017 and my 2018.

Maybe that is the differance,but i'd be hard pressed to think it is though.CrazyKid what's the numbers on your heat exchanger?

Might be me,but it looks like the only change that i can see is the newer one comes with the transfer tubes,which were updated.Maybe i'm missing something though.Alot of times the suffix change relates to a price change to,from what i've gathered up from my local parts department,but don't quote me on that,that's just what my local partsmen has told me,lol
