Well, it’s been two years since the install and it’s rusting all over the face of the centre piece.

The bar itself seems to be doing pretty good compared to the rest.... This is why going blacked out sucks sometimes as I can’t use stainless (chrome) stuff.

Would I recommend? Yes. It looks cool and allows the license plate to show so the police will probably leave you alone.

However, if you’re living in a salty winter area don’t expect more than a couple years. I haven’t driven much this past year so I’d assume it would look even worse off if I had been driving more.

I’ll post pics when the conditions are better. I’ll be removing it today probably and plan my attack for paint and prep etc.

Consider using Rust-Oleum bed liner. It has a nice textured finish. If it doesn't work out, I have had this Lund bar on for 4 years and it still looks new. It also shows the license plate without obstruction...

Thanks! I think crappy tire here sells that brand of bedliner [emoji106][emoji106]. I was worried about texture. The herculiner up close looks weird

There are two different kinds, I used this...

Here is a thread I did when I used it on wheels. It holds up great...

I also tried it on Raptor nerf bars that had previously rusted but that didn't hold up. I did however get a new set from Raptor under warranty and immediately put Berliner on those. They too still look great.

Thanks man! Now I’m gonna hunt down that bed liner here in Canada and start when it warms up a bit more here. All this stupid fresh air seems to be cooling things down lol

Hints for prep work? I’ll have to remove quite a bit to get rid of the rust so do I use a standard sander ? Or do I need something more heavy duty ?

By hand was not enough to save my step bars...try a power sander of some kind. Here's all the steps I did on the already rusted steps.

You could get it sandblasted and powder coated to the color and finish you want. It shouldn’t be too expensive.

I know the voices in my head aren’t real, but man, do they ever come up with some great ideas.
