Just looking for shorties to replace my manifolds so I am not replcing the bolts down the road. Truck has 400 miles or so. It’s new. What are good options for ceramic coated shorties? Will these headers bolt up to the factory exhaust? Will they throw codes?
If that's your goal, just use the stock manifold and replace all the stock bolts with stage 8 header bolts.

Anyone know where to get ceramic coated BBK's for the 4wd? Moe's only has em for 2wd... and the JBA vs BBK is a big price to swallow.

I have heard Matt had said at some point the BBKs were having fitment problems on 4wd trucks so he changed the description on Moes to 2wd only

Be careful what you order ;)

There is a significant price difference, but the JBA's come with proper "D" shaped flange to match head ports.

Unless BBK has changed and upgraded their headers, their shorty's come with a round port flange and the round port is smaller than D port on the head.

I've hear that people have run into issues such as false knock and those headers are only worth 8hp and 10 TQ because of the bad flange design.

Looks like JBA ceramic coated it is then. Will call Matt tomorrow. Anyone use the JBA gaskets and bolts or just going with OEM and stage 8? I read most people stick with OEM gaskets.

I bought new oem gaskets but used JBA gaskets and stage 8 bolts. If you want some new oem gaskets, let me know and I can cut you a deal.

These are better then the OEM gaskets.Don't waste your money on Stage 8 bolts, you can't get all the locking clips on anyways, and you'll curse the SOB who sold them to you,if you ever have to remove the headers. The JBA bolts are a good quality header bolt, and already come with their headers.

Thx for the tip on the Stage8 bolts. I keep reading that. Might just go with the JBA gaskets as well.

Throw the JBA gaskets away, they are garbage, and will cause you nothing but headaches. If you don't want to spring for the Remflex gaskets, the OEMs are the next best gasket to use.

I guess the next question is... how many people did NOT run the stage8 bolts and just went with the JBA bolts.

I've seen a number of people running the JBA bolts. Since headers don't warp like cast iron manifolds do the bolt snapping issue is resolved just by changing out the manifold.

I recommend you guys checking out the AFE twisted steel shorties. Awesome headers, very high quality using thick flanges and quality steel. Let us know if you would like any pricing

I've looked at them before. 304SS, seems to come with an OEM style gasket, good bolts, and the right ports for the Hemi based on the pictures. Depending on your price vs AFE list they might be a solid option over JBA W/Better gaskets.

Last time I fought my headers off,i threw the majority of the Stage 8 bolts in a bucket, and used the original JBA bolts,no issues so far on my nitrous fed truck, and it's been a year now.The clips on the Stage 8 bolts have been known to start rattling and cause the knock sensors to pull timing on the Hemi's.A few of the better Hemi tuners are now recommending not using the locking clips on a Hemi,so if you're not gonna use the clips, the bolts are no better then any other header bolt.

Not just the Hemi's either. I've head the same about anything that has knock sensors when it comes to the locking clips.

Thanks for the tip! I bought the gasket you recommended too. Can't wait to get these JBAs on.

Here's a short video on them. The beauty of them is the fact you don't need to go hog wild on torqueing them down, with a recommended torque of 20 lb-ft,and they don't require re-torqueing. Buy yourself a 7/16" racheting gear wrench for the job if you don't have one,it makes the job a touch easier.

So this question is also for everyone as well as Nick.
The JBA shorty headers do NOT require a tuner?
ARH, Kooks, SW, JBA Long tubes all require a tuner?
Do the AFE headers require a tuner as they are kinda inbetween a shorty and long tube??

I originally wanted long tubes, had my mind made up. But there seems to be posts popping up here and there with guys having the odd issues with their Diablos (the preferred tuner here it appears). Now I'm one of those people that if someone's gonna have an issue, well that'll end up being me. I'dd rather avoid problems, I am more leaning to a one and done deal. Every time a factory recall comes up - which seems to a lot lately - I don't wanna have to play with the Diablo, then play with it again after coming back from any dealership visit.
I'dd rather fix any possible manifold/bolts issues and be done. Stainless headers apparently will accomplish this. So which to swap out and forget?
