Royal Purple is a good oil, but IMO, not for the Hemi. I wouldn't put any oil in a Hemi that doesn't have any moly in it. In fact I wouldn't put any oil in a Hemi that doesn't have a high moly count (200ppm or higher). So that being said, Platinum and Ultra which are great oils, only have approx 60ppm of moly. Pennzoil Yellow has 270 which is what I've been using and my Hemi much happier. Another great choice which I may experiment with is Quaker State 0w20 which has 249 ppm of moly. Strangely enough in that weight only. Of course the best oil IMO for the Hemi is Redline with 800+ ppm of moly and slew of other benefits.

So, its funny you posted up about Pennzoil Yellow having over 200ppm of moly, I saw the same thing on that site. I think this is a typo tho. theres no way they added more moly to conventional over their synthetics. There are 2 Pennzoil yellows on that page and the other one has less then 1 for molly, thats a HUGE difference which is why I think its a typo. I hope its not, cause this is what i use! but im skeptical. All the other oil with that much moly is big money.

We will find out when I do the oil analysis. One thing I know for sure is my Hemi is quieter on PYB...

here is the other one: Untitled Document

A guy over at bitog did a UOA on PYB 5w-30 just this last December, and it still had 259ppm Moly, after a 4800 mile OCI.

Also, the amount of wear metals after that 4800 mile OCI was VERY low compared to normal UOA's of that engine (2.5 Subaru), and they recommended going for 7k miles next OCI.

PYB has a healthy amount of moly in it. After a 3500 mile OCI, I still had 184 ppm in the analysis. I've been running this oil for the last 2-3 changes and I'm very happy with it. The ticking has all but ceased and my first oil analysis wasn't bad. I've only been using Mopar oil filters and NAPA air filters.

Yeah I had thought about going redline in the wife's Elantra GT, but I think I'm just going to go PYB 5w30 with a RP filter and see how that does. She only drives maybe 3k miles per year, but it's all short drives that hardly ever get the oil up to full operating temps, so I guess "extreme" conditions.

Interesting, so it sounds like the best conventional oil to use is PYB, it may not be quality moly if theres an ass load of it, but there is an ass load of it (lol) so its better than nothing - for conventional and the price, ill take it!
