In post #8, it is implied, that if you have a low post count that you are new, and unknowing.

A low post count, is simply that. There are guys who do a lot of reading, and not much posting, because they're considerate enough to not waste everyone's time with non pertinent "information".

Unless it's an intelligent question, little is gained from opening one's mouth.

Wow, are you for real? Go back and read post 8, I was just explaining why I post stuff that has been posted many times. To help new people who were asking for help, IE the original poster. Talk about a post where very little was gained from opening your mouth, lol.

I could hear it. Doesn't sound right. I'd take it in.

yep. I just have to find a new dealership in the area. Already took it in once for them to tell me it wasn't loud enough to figure out what it is. AKA they blew me off and didn't want to deal with it. And this was their actual service head manager. Not going back there for sure.

Ahhhh.... something is very wrong. You aren't going to have to wait long to find out what's making that sound... I know this, if my Ram was making that sound I'd be buying a short block.

Sent directly from my thoughts using tinfoil antennas and a stainless mixing bowl helmet.

Mine sounded a lot worse then that, and now is whisper quiet, you can hear my engine in my sig. All I did was run Redline oil and Royal Purple high flow synthetic filter. I'm not 100% that is either lifter or exhaust tick, cadence is a little different. It could be, just maybe in the starting stages, but it also could be like someone said injector related. I'm gonna listen a couple more times and see if I can hear anything.

Forget your oil/ oil filter. Check yer studs,,,

He may be right, try this first. Usually lifter tick has a pronounced uniform cadence. Get under there and check all your manifold bolts.

Lotsa busted manifold bolts on 5.7's,,, Noise is best heard through the fender wells and / or from underneath.

More noise when cold than warm/hot,,,, Irregular cadence,,,

Check yer studs Sy!

Haven't been underneath the truck yet at all really. So this may seem like a dumb question to some. But what is the easiest way to check these studs? From underneath, and assuming I will have some heat shields to remove to be able to see them? I'm not completely mechanically handicapped, but this is worlds away from what I'm used to looking at haha

Never done it myself,,,,
I can only assume the heat shields would not need to be removed to access the bolts,,
I reckon coming in from underneath/behind would be the easiest access to check for loose/busted bolts.
The Dealer would replace them through the wheel-well, but I'm sure that would involve removal of the inner fender.

My brothers truck was making the same noise. We thought it was an exhaust leak. Turned out to be a lifter was messed up. The dealer changed the lifter and the cam and he's been fine ever since. His truck has 90,000 miles on it though.

I posted a thread with a similar issue last fall. Check out my video in post 15 and another members in post 20. It's the same noise. Sounds to me on mine it's coming from the bell housing but it's hard to say for certain with all the other noise going on under there when the engine is running. Noisier after an oil change but quiets down by 500 miles or so.

Truck is getting looked at again on the 29th/30th. Hopefully they will have a for sure answer on my truck this time. I'll keep you all posted. I hope it is nothing, even if it is something minor I would just like it fixed ASAP as I plan on keeping the truck and paying it off in full. I don't want to mess with a truck that has had bad engine damage/rebuild. Would hate that because I love the truck so much

So that noise in the videos I posted... Just FYI according to my service manager and a "Chrysler Rep" who happened to stop by the shop today it is not worth messing with to figure out what it is.. HOWEVER they are going out of their way to try to figure something out anyways!!!!!! HA! They are going out of their way to address an engine noise on a new, warrantied truck!

**Insert every cuss word possible here***:flame:

Unbelievable.

Hopefully by some miracle I find out what is tapping in my brand new truck by tomorrow. Maybe they will throw some ducktape at it and call it good. LMAO

small update

They are replacing the belt and belt tensioner tomorrow because they couldn't figure it out, and some mechanic said hey try this first... Does anyone that has heard the videos think that is a possibility? To me it doesn't sound right. Would be awesome if thats it though..
