This is my second time cleaning the throttle body, wanted to share something I found out this time while cleaning.

There are two little screws in the middle of the throttle body which hold the plate, if you remove these, it makes cleaning much easier. I was able to clean the inside 100%, i even polished it.

If you don't remove this circular plate to clean, you will miss some small areas.

I found the steel wool is the best method to clean the throttle body. nothing else compares. not even brake cleaner

I don't really have any before photos, but anyone who has taken their thottle body off to clean knows they get a dark brownish color on them

The two screws have red loctite on them, if you remove them, you should put red loctite on them when reinstalling.

If you have a programmer, have you tried clearing the codes yet? If not, try resetting the computer to see if they go away. Otherwise, I will bring a new ported throttle body to downtown for you tomorrow...haha.

I would also check the connection on the plug going to the TB. Make sure you are getting good contact at the plug.

After you cleaned the TB did you pull the battery cables? I am pretty sure you're supposed to so the computer can re calibrate the throttle control actuator deal...

I have tried all the suggested things, I do have a tuner and I have cleared the codes.

Right now my truck won't even idle in park. I am thinking it is my throttle body.

Moe, what is the best way to check this connector?

It is possible when I removed the butterfly to clean, I installed it backwards. I found someone else too whom had this issue and it was due to the butter fly being install incorrectly.

Is there a specific way/direction the circle/butterfly should be installed?

Just make sure the prongs inside the plug are not bent/broken and that they are making good contact when you plug it into the harness. As for the blade position, on the back of the blade, there should be a small indentation that goes at the bottom of the TB.

Sounds like the sensor was damaged during cleaning. Matt sounds like the hook up.

Looks like im going to try flipping the butterfly valve and make sure I have it in the right posistion. If that fails again then I will have no other option but to take Matt up on the TB.
