I have a 2023 Ram 1500 5.7litre V8 E torque and it has a HORRIBLE throttle delay at all ranges. From a Stop to Start position and everywhere along the speed ranges when you let off the gas pedal and press it again it DELAYS. Then it surges cause you press the pedal more to get going.

I dont know why EVERYONE isnt talking about this? I filed a complaint with the NTSB (National transportation safety board). It is a severe safety issue. Someone is going to get hurt or killed by this issue.

Ive had it to multiple dealers and RAM has them all spouting the same BS. They will tell you word for word “Its operating as designed “. Its total BS. There needs to be a class action lawsuit against this. Im on board.

Im a Ram guy for 30years. Im willing to walk away from Ram and never come back over this. They know its a problem and do nothing about it.

I will continue to fight this issue and may look into a lawyer because I have no choice.

Has anyone had any luck getting this problem resolved?? Please message me back.

I dont know why EVERYONE isnt talking about this?
Maybe because it's a problem with your vehicle and not a widespread issue.
Usually the complaints that appear on the forum about throttle response is either a pedal commander not working correctly or a diesel (which is actually turbo lag).
Im willing to walk away from Ram and never come back over this.
Just as people leave stating they'll never buy a Ram again, there's people on this forum who have proclaimed they'll never buy (insert any major brand here) and love their Ram truck.

Firstly, welcome from Ontario, Canada.

I hear your concerns...can I offer some friendly criticism...

You're hopping on a global forum with no greeting and then immediately going to bash mode here.

Perhaps present your concerns in a more constructive and open manner, and not bash the product, including threatening legal.

Throttle lag could absolutely present a safety concern, and your cause for this concern is warranted.

I hope you can obtain the information you are looking for in order to get the results you're expecting.

In the interim, you could look at Sprint Booster ;)

Firstly i have to say it is very much a widespread problem. Its on the 23 and 24 models that i know of and probably more. The 2 dealer service managers i spoke to know very very well its a problem but Ram will not acknowledge it and resolve it. The dealers hands are tied. Ram tells them what to say.

To be clear again i have been a Ram owner for over 30 years. Loyal until a safety issue is being ignored and not being looked into or resolved. I havent left the Brand yet but will be forced to if this continues without resolution.

Ive been told about pedal commanders but its a Newer truck with 18000 miles on it under warranty. I shouldnt have to modify my truck to get it running correctly.

It's operating exactly how it's supposed to.
It's called "fly by wire" and there are electronic throttle position programmers out there to fix this delay on the new trucks, instead of bashing something most already know about, maybe next time ask if there's a fix first before pis'n in your soup?
You're in luck, the older FBW can't be fixed with a programmer, count your blessings.
EDIT: didn't catch the "E" truck, so this might not work. Thought EV's were supposed to be instant torque? I was referring to trucks with real engines in them.

Before my ram I briefly had a 2015 Cherokee V6 which had unacceptable throttle lag. While already traveling any speed if I mashed the throttle it would take at least 500ms to show any sign of reaction and worse if I did accelerate briskly and then release the pedal it took another 500+ ms to stop accelerating as though I was still on the throttle.

That whole car was a lemon, worst purchase of my life even counting roach coach food that turned me inside out. It was also extremely frustrating when I asked about the very real problems I was experiencing and everyone on forums acted like I was wrong for experiencing those real problems. People who didn't design it and don't work for Jeep were super defensive and denied that such a problem could even happen because they weren't personally experiencing it.

Ultimately I was able to get rid of it.. dang lot of stress until then.

Try this. Turn off the start/stop system. Turn off ESC. Turn off traction control.

When you go to take off from the light, keeping your left foot firmly on the deadside out of the way, release the brake and hover your foot over the gas. As the truck starts to creep forwards give the gas a very sharp stab to half throttle and hold it. You should fly away from the intersection.

If your tires start spinning, there’s your problem.

I have never had this problem, first I have heard about it, but I have never had a e truck.
Are you massing the gas to the floor, on a start? My truck don't really like that.

We have a 2024 ram classic. V6 and have gotten the throttle body changed at least 3-4 times. Ram is stating they do not have a fix for it. Head office even told the dealerships to give it back to us when the weather, gets nicer and the problem won’t be there on warm days and we will think it’s fixed. So now the dealership has our truck and ram is paying for our rental. Brand new truck and they won’t do anything

my '12 5.7 does this to, as others have said it's by design, just like I can never get 100% throttle per my bully dog and various other OBD readers I max out at 76% throttle. The lag I think it's an "are you sure?" delay

If anyone plans to resolve this with a throttle response controller we do offer Pedal Commander and Banks Pedal Monster. I highly recommend the Banks Pedal Monster. It has been the most reliable one and also has built in safeties should something with it fail, which none of the other units have. Message me if you would like a quote
