So let me give you some history. My 2002 ram1500 4.7 45rfe trans has 70k on it. A few weeks ago the truck would shudder when in overdrive pretty much the converter locking and unlocking. No biggie I can live with for awhile. Then some time later the 2-3 shift starts slipping at low speeds. I do some research ( this forum) and figure this has to be the solenoid pack. So I gear up to swap out the pack as well as the governor and filter kit, new pan with drain plug installed.

Everything goes of without a hitch put it back together test drive goes ok. Driving home trans flairs up inbetween shifts, delayed gear selection. I had disconnected the battery while doing the service thinking that would work for the relearn. Finally get home, wifey need to go to the store jumps in it and comes back saying truck is acting up. I jump in it boom! Limp mode. Next day I go out decide I'm taking the programmer off and the line pressure booster off. I also disconnect the battery and go old school take both terminal ends off, turn ignition on and touch the 2 together to ensure complete system drain.

All this done I've been driving the truck all over and besides a few first hiccups with ruff shifts. It is working better then ever shifts are firm and positive. Knock on wood it keeps it up. And thanks to those on the site

Glad that is working for you. When changing the flat filter you have to be very careful that the seal is seated correctly. If it is leaking it will cause much of what have described.

update: working great today pretty confident in the truck as i put a half a tank a gas without issue. I'm assuming the line booster was screwing up the trans as it was trying to relearn. I will drive it for the rest of the week then add the programmer. I will NOT be putting he line booster back i'm happy with the way it shifts and if i want them firmer i will just do a shift kit. I was always against line pressure boosters and now its confirmed the tricking the computer is no good

I'm assuming you have a JTEC PCM, my 03 uses a NGC and believe me it is all about tricking that sucker. Can you do the TMR mod on a 02?

the tmr mod is done no issue with that. I know the issue was the pressure booster resistor i had left in after the service. I removed it and reset the check engine light and its all good. I'm actually shocked how good it shifts. When i bought the truck it was lazy and kinda just glided into gear. so i used the resistor to firm up the shift. Now i see all i did was band-aid a issue. Next week I'll throw the tuner back in it and if all goes well for a few weeks i'm gunna put a shift kit in it as they are pretty easy to do on these transmissions.

Sounds like a good plan, you will like the shift kit.
