I know this has been posted before, but I have a question about the PPE aluminum pan for the transmission. The stock pan has an integral filter which requires a new pan at each oil change. The PPE pan has a removable filter. My question is this. Is PPE the only source for the filters or are they available at a local parts store?

I would check out the filter manufactured by Dorman #265-850F.

This is the filter by itself and can be ordered through Oreilly's. My local Oreilly's in Texas keeps a couple in stock.

Thanks for the sites. I just wanted to make sure the filter was available without much hassle before I do the pan conversion. I have 64k on my 2017 with about 20k miles towing a 7500 lb camper. Dealer said to wait to 100k before changing the trans fluid. Trans is acting a bit funny while towing this last trip, so my guess is the fluid is worn out.

Following because I have the same question but was never able to find a definitive answer. The stock pan sucks due to the drain plug location.

Literally just seen this when under my truck yesterday, jeez. Be doing good to get a tool in there to unscrew it.

Probably sell a "special" tool for ridiculous price. I'll be cutting a perfectly good allen wrench before i buy it, thats for sure.

When I bought my PPE pan,i had them send me another couple filters with it.

Assuming we're talking about the 8HP70 and 45 pan, the drain plug is right out in the open on the V6 trucks. Exhaust is right below it on the Hemi powered.

I think these pans are awesome because of the integrated gasket. It all comes off in one piece. I've seen aftermarket pan/bolt kits for around $100.

Assuming you bought this for your 2014 Sport, did you have any issues with the pan fitting the stock exhaust?

My truck has long tube headers ,so my exhaust cleared the pan with no issues, but on a stock exhaust system ,you will probably have to have the cross over tweaked slightly. The pan might physically fit and clear the cross over, but I wouldn't lay odds on it,lol.

Be sure to measure your clearance first. I almost screwed myself because of this. I watched boosted Motorsports video, and it was simple enough to follow. He had no issues getting the stock pan off. So I thought nothing about it. Since I was replacing the pan, I decided to drill a hole in the side to help control the mess. This worked great. Got all bolts out and pan wouldn't come out. Kept getting caught on the end. I tried to pry the exhaust a bit but it wouldn't budge. I ended up forcing the pan out, breaking off some plastic piece on the valve body (it was like a small channel where a wire would clip into...but there were no wires). The replacement pan was aftermarket and a little bit shallower than the stock. So it slid right in. Disaster averted.

Do not assume you have enough clearance!!

Does anyone know if PPE makes a pan for the 6 speed? I get so confused what transmissions are alike in these things. I know they make one for 68rfe but it doesnt mention 65rfe.
