They get an emissions credit for saying it's sealed for life, that they then can use somewhere else that doesn't quite meet the emission standards.Everything always goes back to meeting US emission lawsThanks for that reminder and attachment. Printed! It's hilarious that it comes with the truck that has a so-called lifetime transmission. Love the 8 speed transmission, but what a PITA. LOL
Whatever they have to do I guess. But at least use their attorney's for some fancy legalesing to put some sort of language in there that implies you should change the fluid/pan/filter and provide an interval. I'll give it to them, I'm at 137K doing it for the first time, although I felt I have pushed it, that's amazing. They get an emissions credit for saying it's sealed for life, that they then can use somewhere else that doesn't quite meet the emission standards.Everything always goes back to meeting US emission laws![]()

Ed this is asking alot, but i've been curious on what temps the transmission will run at ,with out the coolant lines feeding hot coolant to the TMU and just the PPE pan installed,with-out Jesse's bypass. That's if you're up for trying that experiment. If it still runs hotter then you like it's easy to install Jesse's bypass down the roadI eliminated the coolant lines to the TMU/heat exchanger. Now, I can go a fair bit before my 8 speed gets to the 180 range.
I will install my PPE pan and Jesse's bypass soon, maybe over this long weekend. Then, my temps should stay lower even longer.
Here's my temps right now, idling in the parking lot of Texas Roadhouse waiting on a takeout order after running for a bit.Ed this is asking alot, but i've been curious on what temps the transmission will run at ,with out the coolant lines feeding hot coolant to the TMU and just the PPE pan installed,with-out Jesse's bypass. I'd do the pan first Ed,as it might pull enough heat out, that you don't need the bypass. The bypass is easily added after the fact if you feel it's still needed. You can over cool the ZF, it's not really happy at temps under 150I probably should install Jesse's bypass first, and see how it does.
Well, sh*t.I'd do the pan first Ed,as it might pull enough heat out, that you don't need the bypass. The bypass is easily added after the fact if you feel it's still needed. You can over cool the ZF, it's not really happy at temps under 150
About the only time you'd have any heat hitting the pan,is if you're stopped or stuck in really slow moving rush hour traffic, any other time there'll be enough airflow under the truck to keep the exhaust heat off the pan,but you could throw some header wrap on the cross over to miniumize any heat making it to the pan.Well, sh*t.
Ed luck, I might not need it.
I have 7 qts. of Mopar fluid, I'm really debating getting some MaxLife and doing a couple drain and fills on the stock pan first, then installing the PPE pan with the OE fluid I have.
Question:
Won't the exhaust crossover pipe radiate heat into the aluminum pan?
Isn’t it better to get the OEM thermostat out of the housing and replace it with Jesse’ bypass to eliminate the original going bad and causing an overheating condition?Well, sh*t.

If you eliminated the coolant flow through the TMU exchanger, do you need Jesse’ bypass?I eliminated the coolant lines to the TMU/heat exchanger. Now, I can go a fair bit before my 8 speed gets to the 180 range.

Mine rarely gets over 150 and is living it's best life.I'd do the pan first Ed,as it might pull enough heat out, that you don't need the bypass. The bypass is easily added after the fact if you feel it's still needed. You can over cool the ZF, it's not really happy at temps under 150
Actually it's been proven the ZF is happiest right around 160,temps under that screw up it's shift points in higher powered vehicles Jesse. It's actually pretty common knowledge now on the hi-po pages, that they can be over cooled. I was like you and thought you couldn't get them to cool, but after a few tests at the dragstrip i started to believe the hi-po shops like Satera / Sipple etc,who were saying you wanted the transmissions right in the 160 range for their best shifting and life expectancy,as the wifes 1320 always ran it's best numbers with the transmission between 160 and 165,under 160 it didn't shift quite right and was very inconsistent.Mine rarely gets over 150 and is living it's best life.
With the thermostat still in there, it's going to run at 180 anyway. Removing the coolant lines and or adding an aluminum pan will simply slow the climb.

Buy a OEM pan and do a service on it yourself using OEM fluid, and nobody will be able to tell it's been serviced.I have a silly question, while I would like to do a pan and filter change, with the lifetime maxcare warranty I can't.
So, I was thinking of doing just a drain and fill a couple of times to do a pretty decent fluid flush.
Question. Will the drain plug reseal and not leak if that is all that is removed?
I realize that maybe no one has done this and won't know, but it is what it is.
Maxcare says lifetime means lifetime and to change the fluid according to the manual - which is never, towing or not.
I currently get a intermittent weird shudder when backing up a slight hill at light throttle. Not everytime.
Currently at 80k miles with probaby 1/3 of that towing.
