Was on my way up 75 from Cincinnati to Troy to doc went over bridge service abs and service trailer brake light came on. By the time I got pulled over it had went off. Started down the road again boom service abs and trailer and 4x4 temp disabled wtf!! Call dealer by the time they pick up it's off. They said unless the message is there not much they could do. Get within a mile of my exit and HOLD THE F@©€ ON. front right caliper locks up at 75mph. And of course I'm on the fast lane. Somehow managed to get it off the side of the road right side at that those 35s on a 14 wide pull like a ***** when it's locked up. Get out lock under the truck and literally chunks of the rotor in the rim. Trying to think of what may have caused it. Lift just crossed maybe 250mi could it be something cause by it? To be honest when it happened I expected it to be the CV since the had those completely fd when I originally picked it up. When it was giving me the codes I almost thought well chit there is the pulsar demons. Maybe it was bad luck. Definitely going to need new rotor and caliper. was thinking about upgrading to a big brake kit anyway since I tow and these wheels are super heavy. Any recommendations. Truck has 55k so not a big deal to replace all of the brakes to me.

Where's the pics?

Glad you made it out of that one in one piece!

Did the lift kit come with extended brake lines? Not sure what would cause it to lock up, if they didn't bleed them right I would think that the brakes wouldn't work well. Not lock the hell up!

My money says the guys who did the lift probably screwed something up. The problem of proving it and making them pay for it will be a lost cause.

Also, another vote for pics. We like visual carnage.

I did notice some grease mixed into those pcs though. Pretty sure it trashed the wheel bearing also.

Back when I was young, had hair, and Elvis was tho most famous person in the world, We, in my generation, would raise the back of our cars to give them that tough rakish look. Never mind what that would do to the original center of gravity, the front to rear weight bias which really affected braking, steering and safe control. Who needed those trifling, bothersome, mundane, common sense things?! We had girls to impress and we thought we were cool!

Ball joints wore out prematurely as did tires and front brakes. Panic stops were outright dangerous! But we identified with all the cool cats who were on TV at that time.... e.g. Starsky and Hutch!

Inevitably, I returned my car back to stock.

4 months ago I was told I have essentially the deadliest cancer there is. it's gonna have to be a whole hell of a lot more than some smoke and screeching tires to make me even prarie dog lol. I accepted that day that everyday could be the last and to take it for what it is and live it to the fullest.

Hell yeah that's the attitude to have.
Glad you made it safe, to fight another day.
I live outside of Cinci ... I'll have to keep an eye out for that truck . The more I see of it, the more I like it!

Edit: I'll also blame the shop, they janked something up with that mess of a lift!

One powerful thought process there! Good on ya man!

I had a caliper seize on my 2017 1500. Normal drive to work and BAM, bugger locks at only few mph. Only 20Kmi or so on the truck.

The heat could have triggered all the codes by cooking the ABS sensor while the brake was cooking before the caliper locked up.

Sorry to hear that and I'm rooting for you. I was wondering what kind of doctor you found in Troy that wouldn't be in Cincy. I'm in Dayton...went down to Fairfield on Saturday.
