So I’m not so sure it’s the header ticking. I’m almost afraid its a lifter. The ticking gets quiet for a bit after it warms up but is still there. When idling and slightly increasing rpms it disappears. When driving it is audible and changes sound with acceleration. What do you guys think?

Yea I think you’re right. The more I listen to while driving, it doesn’t really act like a lifter. After it cools done I’m going to remove the header and check to see if it’s warped.

Get a set of 6022 Remflex gaskets,they'll handle a warped header flange better then a multilayer gasket will

Don't bend them,as they're a thick graphite gasket,and they don't take kindly to been bent/flexed.They're also about the most grimy gasket you'll run into,they'll make your hands look like you've been working in a coal mine They're all i've ran for the last 10 years,and they'll even handle a nitrous pop through the exhaust with out blowing out like a multilayer gasket will do.They're also nice as they don't require constant retorquing like most header gaskets require,put them on,torque them to 20 lb-ft and basically forget about them.

Examine the current gasket very closely. A leaking header gasket typically will exhibit some signs around the area that's leaking, normally some black sooty deposits. That will help you confirm that you've found the culprit.

It’s running great. I can feel the increase in power. It’s not like the truck is hoping up on the rear tires, but she definitely has more get up and go. I haven’t pushed her just yet, I’m going to wait till after the break in period before I give her a workout. I’m not regretting this swap at all. Plus it does have a very nice tone to the exhaust which makes my inner kid giggle every time I hear it. I plan on building the motor even more in the future but for right now I’m happy with where it is at.

I use ARP bolts on my headers. The bolts that came with the headers worked their way out. The ARP's have been great. No more tick issues from gaskets or otherwise

Quick update for you guys. Ran the truck off and on during the weekend. The motor is doing great no complaints. Definitely getting an oil cooler. While the oil temp isnt bad going back and forth to work or around town, I don’t like it being that high if I have to go a much farther distance. I just received the remflex gaskets today so I’ll be putting those in hopefully Wednesday.
