I had mine done by an AMP dealer that had the same set on his shop Ram. (Same guy that did my cradle mods on the Challenger). Since I had looked over the install instructions I asked him about fitment and he said he's had a few trucks that needed a little bit of tweaking, but nothing insane and about on par with any other steps. Took him about 4 hours to knock it out and I only paid an extra $400 over MSRP including the taxes. At the time I had just had back surgery so the extra cost was well worth it to me and I didn't have to lift a finger.

Same here, dropped the truck off at 8am, picked it up fully installed at noon from a shop that installs several every week.for years. My wife made me buy these 3 days after I bought the truck

I guess it’s just my truck, I did finally get them lined up but I still contend it’s crappy engineering, there is plenty of room between the frame and the pinch, they don’t have to make them so tight that they hit the rain gutters, the truck has at least 3-4” of space behind the retracted boards, if they moved them back. 1/2” these things would be a breeze to install.

I guess these guys were correct, the fix was to loosen, bounce the **** out of them and re tighten. I did that 5 times today and eventually the passenger side went into place. The drivers side only took a bounce or two and it was fine.

I had theAMP's on my 2500 and loved them. I have bad knees and the origional boards absolutely were horrible to get in the truck. Plus momma is a tad short and she hated the fixed boards.

When we traded our diesel for a new 2019 1500, the truck didn't come with running boards. Salesman tried to sell us the mack daddy fixed boards which I promptly denied. We put on the AMP boards which plug into the obd port. Since I never use the port (dealer only) I didn't care about that issue. With the AMO boards I have no more knee issues getting in and out of the truck. As for washing the truck (I dont do automated car wash) I just open the rear door a tad and wash them off. Close the door and go back to washing.

One issue to beware of... Don't park too close to a curb so, when deployed, they don't hit the curb.

All in all, I love the AMP boards and don't have to deal with the radio being reprogrammed for the factory boards. We had them professionally installed with a one year warranty. No issues at all. Dealer said to leave the steps plugged into the obd port since he only needs to unplug them once ever 5,000 miles. He said it's not worth the cost of the AMP splitter. Beware as not all of the obd splitters will work with the AMP boards.

I broke my OBD plug but hitting it with my shin while getting in/out..several times. So when I replaced I made sure to get a splitter from Amazon mainly so I could relocate the plug anyway AND have an open OBD.

If you’re buying any of these, just make sure you buy them from an authorized dealer so the warranty is honored

I have Bestop pieces of ***** now. The linkages only last 1 year before you have to de-corrode them, free them up, & repaint them. I have 3 sets of linkages, you’d think they’d offer a rebuild program for them, nor do they honor the warranty because I bought them from a drop shipper (not an authorized dealer) off of eBay.

My next step will be RBP, twin motors is the way to go.

They are absolutely nice boards, it’s the install that sucked!

I don’t have experience with RBP but if I had to do it again, I’d go with them. The AMP suck to install but all the parts seem to be very high quality and I like the way the truck looks without my n-fabs

I'm not sure what the issue was with getting yours to line up correctly. I haven't seen anyone have that much trouble with them and mine weren't that tough either but glad you finally got it figured out. I've had my AMPs for about 4 years and have had zero issues. I'm sure the RBP steps are good too but I would most likely stick with the AMPs when I get my 2500 just because I have been so impressed with the ones I have now.

I’m sure I will like them now that they are on. Unfortunately my tranny went bad and it’s been at the dealer. Can’t wait to get her back.

I did absolutely everything that could possibly be done with changing angles with wedges and washers to bouncing on the boards with approximately 425-450lbs me and a buddy. Walking up and down the boards. Standing on the boards with a 3rd buddy tightening the bolts and after 3 days and countless hours I cut the pinch welds

I had to have the body shop do the same thing to my 1500. Complete bs. All they need is a spacer between the rocker and the mounts that would push the whole thing back 1/2 an inch. The idiots at amp have known about this for years. When I called 5or 6 years ago they told me they were not going to fix it because the new rams were coming out next year. I just remember thinking they’re dumb as ****. Once they were on they worked great, but it’s sad to see the lack of support for a problem this old. That’s one reason I haven’t put them on my new ram.

I just installed a set on my Buddy's 19 Bighorn Classic last week and they actually fit pretty well. We walked up and down bounced on them until they stopped hanging up and they work fine. Mine weren't too bad to install either when I did them a few years ago so I guess I got lucky with both the trucks I have done. There really isn't a wrong way to install them so I'm not sure why they are so far off on some trucks and not others. I do agree that they should have corrected the design of the linkage if there is a chance that some trucks could have a clearance issue especially considering what they cost.

I refused to cut anything, took me about 6 hours of tightening and loosening and bouncing and finally the fell in to place.

I’d be curious to hear from members who installed RBP to see their experience.

The bad thing is, there is plenty of room for them to move them away from the pinch weld. No reason at all to make them so close that they are a pain to install.

$300 less than AMP? I got my AMP steps for $1,000 shipped. I installed them myself because why the hell would I pay someone $200 for something I can easily do myself in a couple of hours.
Anyway.
Where are you finding the RBP steps for $700?
