It was customer service that I went to first explaining the issue and they said place the jack some where else in the truck once you have to remove it and not put it back in the same place with the wing nut. That's what got my goat, you want customer service but you get the run around. So you go to the top complain about customer service about an issue. The #2 man was very apologetic in the answer i received about the situation. This fellow did not know this was an issue at all the first he heard of it.
the #2 man at chrysler called you because of a wing nut ? wow must of been exciting like getting a text from tom brady
I thought this was important just like every other complaint you may have had about anything on your vehicle I guess you will be the one cussing that you can't get your jack out because of a nut in crappy weather that you can't get your tire off to replace, but what do I know and where would you store your jack once used. You tell me where to place it in the cab of the truck if you know so much.

And I thought the dealer alignment tech that left my lower control arms untorqued was unreasonable...

Am I crazy for not getting this re-call done?

When I got the notice about the drag link recall; I checked the nut and added some blue Loctite to wherever I saw threads. I've been checking it every time I change the oil. The nut is still tight and no unusual wear on the tires.

So, am I crazy for not getting this re-call done?

If they have the parts to do the recall by all means have it done quickly.Although it may never happen but I wouldnt want a lawyer nosing around the recall records in case you were at fault or not in an accident for whatever reason.Regardless if your "fix" is working.

Nope, you are diligently checking it and it’s not loosening. Better off, the less the dealer monkeys touch your truck.

Not necessarily true. Once sticker is worn off, can’t know part date, number, etc. What about aftermarket draglinks? I believe you are overthinking the what if scenarios. That said, if they are replacing the parts versus welding, yes, I would do that.

the truck is a piece of metal and plastic assembled by robots and people (possibly disgruntled at that). were you expecting a hand assembled ferrari ?
your the vehicle owner and its your responsibility to look over the vehicle and be sure everything works before your stranded with a flat tire. maybe there was paint over spray on the wing nut threads. maybe the ID threads werent cut correct. get a tap and clean the threads out. . its only a big deal if you make it a big deal. clearly you made the wing nut a big deal

The nhtsa knows which trucks and which recalls have been done.So Im not saying an underneath vehicle inspection would show anything like a part number for an attorney to know. But records can be checked at nhtsa website.I do know in the trucking industry the guvmint folks have done truck brake inspections for defects at accident scenes and charged drivers that otherwise wouldnt be at fault.Although no apparent brake issues were known by the driver.I agree if there were a aftermarket part on there the recall would be a moot point in the vehicle history

Point taken, Octane. I will remind everyone, that at any given time, we are afoul of the government on some law, in some way. I quit worrying about the far out, what-ifs, and take my chances by getting outta bed , getting dressed, and going to work everyday and just live my life. We are in strange times indeed, where there are no longer such things as “accidents”, somebody has to be found at fault in our new world.

Because someone is always responsible,and/or at fault.lol.
But I know where you coming from.Recalls are always about safety. In todays world with such a litigious society there are experts at finding fault, when it comes to money. We need tort reform as ambulance chasers have gotten very good at their craft.I know of one case where the person was uninsured and because of the other parties headlamp was out,the lawyers sued the headlamp maker. And won. They're out to "get that money"! From anywhere.

Not sure if this helps, but there's a new OEM draglink replacement available. Looks like the Synergy one. 68338342AD

I ended up needing a new Drag Link after sliding into a curb and bending my OEM unit.
It had the Recall welds done to it prior to it bending.
I didn't have the time to do a Synergy Link myself so I took it to my mechanic, He had to go to the dealership for the part and this is the new unit being installed. It has a flattened section in the center that threw me off for a minute.

Might be a dumb question but does it matter if the drag link is mounted on top or bottom at the pitman arm? I put on a synergy one a month ago and it says to mount it on top of the pitman arm which is how my stock one was mounted on my 16.

It only mounts 1 way, from the top (it's tapered). The guy above must have a aftermarket drop pitman arm.

I am supposed to be getting mine soon. I was told 2 weeks, but that was 3 weeks ago. I cant believe the common fix for this is still welding and not having replacements on the shelf ready to go. IN washington state the dealers are garabage.

The "FIX" is full replacement if their is something to fix, like when the nut has become loose and worn the threads.
The weld is a preventative measure. If it wasn't loose or show signs of wear, it isn't broke so there's nothing to fix.
The supply chain is broken. That problem is everywhere and affects everything.

Last time I went to the dealer to have an alignment and front end checked a few months ago. They ground off the spot welds but could not get the adjuster to move. Said it was $7xx for a new drag link since the recall only pertained to the nuts not the adjuster. Even though it would have only been $200 for me for my deductible. So for $100 more then the deductible I ordered the synergy drag link.
