Did you try the RESET button on the OBDlink MX?
Reset not sure what u mean. Did I hit the button on front lower right to set to PAIR mode. Sure. I also un paired it and re connected. It did. Showed up in "paired devices" just never showed as connected. AND it would always connect to the ODBwiz software. That's what is confusing. Like its locked. I remember from other programmers the dongle only works with there software. I know there is a crap ton if users on this forum making it work juuuusssstttt fine.

Are you tapping the bluetooth symbol which will take you to the paired devices screen, then tap obdlink? It should connect when you do that

Has anyone noticed the passenger side DRL flickering? I have LED bulbs and have the DRLs set to low beams and the low beams set to LED. I am wondering if maybe the voltage sent to the low beam for DRL is causing the flickering because it does not flicker when lights are set to on.

I bought a Amazon Fire 7" on sale for $30(normally $50) to run AlfaOBD. I side loaded the Google PlayStore on it, there is directions all over the internet on how to.
It runs AlfaOBD fine and the larger screen makes the text and data easier to read.3c81928297c65647330804f5a8e51ce1.jpg

I did the same thing and got the same price too.

Ya know, dont remember. I used the Win version. I like bigger screen. I will review it again today after work. Thanks for the pics.

Happens to me often... unlike my lady who finds all the good deals and coupon specials.... :)

Forgive me if this has been covered here before but can you reprogram a replacement WIN module with Alfa?

I doubt it, because that would involve transferring the secret key information from the PCM. The only system I know of that this works for is the highline system (push button start) rf hubs. If you have the new WIN module, it’s worth a try. Since new win module means new key fob, it would happen during the key fob programming if it works. If not, you might be stuck having the dealer do it, or send the debug log to the developer to see if he can make it work.

2009 - Key Fob Add Procedure

Hi All, I'm trying to help a neighbor whose key (1 and only key) just stopped working on his 2009 Ram 1500.

It looks like I got the new fobrik coded to the RFHub (he had gotten the 4 digit code), but the procedure says the PEM needs to be updated with the new info, and for the life of me I cannot find anything on "PEM" or how to transfer the new fob data the RFHub has to it.

Any attempts to relearn the key by reprogramming it in the RFHub fail, so I think the key is now programmed. But attempting to start the truck and it will die within a few seconds of starting, so I think this transfer of key info to the PEM should fix it, but as I said nothing I can find about PEM.

Any advice? I can find nothing in the engine module procedures list that looks like it would do this.

PEM is passive entry module, which don’t exist for 2009-2012 rams. When the truck runs and dies, are you getting a P0513 fault? I don’t have alfa with me, but is there an option to reset the wireless control module?

Jimmy,
There are faults, invalid key and a few others like it most were likely there from when the truck stopped recognizing his key (kept coming up "Key Damaged"), but no P0513 fault. There is an option to Reset the WIN, but I didn't want to take a chance of screwing it all up to run that particular procedure.

Do you think I need to run that one?

When I ran the key programming for the new key, Alfa came back with "Test completed Successfully", his truck was stuck on the side of the road, but it started and stayed running, so we got it back to his place as fast as possible. But once we shut the truck off, then it would not stay running once started. So I figure the key is successfully coded to the truck, but not transferred to whatever module needs to remember what keys are valid. Attempts to redo the key programming come up Test Failed, but I think that is to be expected if the key paired to the truck.

I had the same thing happen to me when I installed push button start, but that was with a new rf hub, also. I would start and die. Resetting the hub took care of it.
It wouldn’t hurt to try it.

Pretty sure you cannot use LEDs for DRL's regardless if they are set to LED or not. They don't like running on a lower voltage.

IIRC AlfaOBD can set the target voltage for the DRLs. Does it actually work, I have no idea.

I have LED strips in my modified ModifyStreet lights and Im using them as DRLs without issue. Currently have the target voltage at 7.4 and they are working, but I have not tested with a multimeter to see if it actually sends the target voltage or not.

Jimmy, we'll give it a try when he gets back. I hope it takes care of it.
One more thing. You mentioned that P0513 code, what happens / what should I do, IF that code is set?

The default voltage setting seems to be 7.4 volts and the max you can change it to is 8.4 volts. That still might not be enough for some LEDs? It's worth a shot trying to change it and see if it helps though? I think it's really going to be dependent on which LED's he has? Some work better then others but most 12V LEDs have a normal operating range of ~11-16v and I have seen some that do go down to 8v but you are right on the edge.

Sounds like you are running a dedicated DRL? I would be curious if the dedicated line runs at 12v all the time or if it is effected by the DRL voltage setting? I would almost bet the dedicated line runs 12v since that is all it is used for.

I'm still running stock bulbs in my high beam (LEDs in my low) and using them as DRL's but might order some LEDs and try it?

Yes, I have dedicated DRLs. Added the mpgrimm pigtail to each headlight from the front end harness connector. Set Alfa DRL settings to what jimmy suggested.

I see more options than 7.4 to 8V as the DRL target voltage, but I was not connected to the truck when I checked so its possible it gets limited when I connect....although at one point I had my DRLs set to 11.4V so Im pretty sure I could go higher than 8. Not sure if the DRL type and location have an effect on the voltage you can send them. Or maybe its a function of model year (mine is a 2017).

I think I can access the junction I put in the DRL lead without removing the headlights....if I can do that I will try to meter the lead and see if the setting has any effect on the voltage to the DRLs.

@superjoe83 thanks for the tips... the phone/android app seems to be working. will test the laptop later. I tried BigDaddyHouse youtube video of backing up your data... tried it, file uploaded, but empty. It might be because I am using a DEMO version. I will pay and get full version today and retest. still on fence of Android or Windows version. I like laptop bigger screen, but lots of users seem to use the android version.
