lol, we had the same thought. Added that the second you posted, so yeah I concur.
I'm going to and see what it does

So now only reading P0308? No other codes? And running shaky? The usual suspect here is the cam/lifters. I wouldn't be doing any long trips til it is fixed.
Have you tried switching the #8 coil, with the coil next to it & then run the code check again
I did not read thoroughly & may have missed a sentence or phrase
..............................................
A code P0308 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
list starts with most likely down to less frequent
Faulty spark plug or wire
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Running out of fuel
Poor compression
Defective computer
If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.
If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs).
Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule.
I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs).
In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

OBD plug inHey guys. Need help
Just did new plugs and a coil pack for #8. Still getting these codes.
What am I missing
IMO you did it right.
The only thing you could have done different is swap injectors, but that is kinda of a pain because you need to remove the rail to get to them, and all that does is save you an injector cost. That second code is what tripped you up a bit, but you settled it. Now we are looking at a cam lob, seriously don't go on long trips until you deal with that.
I look at what was posted on what causes misfires in posts above, and they omit lifters, lmao. The number one reason for misfire in a ram.
this.. huh

I did do the injector on #8. Crazy thing is I replaced one set of lifters a year ago because they were bad. But the issue was completely different [symtpoms] so now I think its cam shaft and I really don't want to deal w a shop

Trade it in for a TRX![]()
have you seen the dyi cam thread?
I have not
cam bible thread around here. Pay attention to rods, the number one issue on the board is rods and/or timing. I can't say as (knock wood) I haven't attempted it yet. However, if my cam goes I will attempt it using this thread as a guide.
