4th Gen Remote start for under $100

Just got mine today, Just have a few questions before I go ahead and install it. My pictures should describe my questions better. Also I will not be using the hood pin, parking lights, or the smart start options (atleast not now).


1st Pic
The Bundle of wires that are splice onto the harness. What are they for? Do I need them connected to anything or can I leave it like so under the dash?

2nd Pic
The loan white wire that is spliced into the harness as well with the small black adapter. What is it for? Where should it be connected if I need it? Or do I just leave it loose?

3rd Pic
The separate pack of wires I got, Are they just for if I wanted to hard wire everything in?

Just installed this today. Very easy and works great. The only strange thing is when I put the key in the ignition and turn it on, my low tire pressure light flashes on for a couple seconds then turn off. Otherwise the unit works great.

Our Journey did that from day 1. Other than that never had a problem.

That's because when this thread was started back in 2012 it was under $100. It has since gone up as the technology has advanced.

I would contact the seller if they aren't explicit. Sometimes, they don't update the compatibility list because they are unsure if the manufacturer made a change.

The other thing I noticed is the clock on the radio resets to 1200 every time I start it. Hope this remote start doesn't fry my electrical system.

I need to reflash my dball on my 2012 1500. Anyone can help me out how i can get hold of login for directechs? I have an xloader but needs login for the site. My unit when i unplug it and plug it back, led will flash once then do nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

your probably going to have to pay to get it done, since directed only deals with their retailers.

I just installed the 3XL (three times lock) remote start sold by "doug43235" on eBay that so many of you have mentioned. It went fairly smoothly. I would not call it easy, but certainly not hard. There were a few moments where I kind of had to figure it out as I went.

My kit included the Directechs 4x10/5x10 module, XKLODAER 2 programming tool, and Directed THCHC3 T-harness. Programming was fairly easy with the instructions that doug includes. Temporary login info for the directechs website was included.

Here's where I mounted the Remote Start Safety Override Switch:



Overall, I'm pretty happy with how things turned out. It works great!

I just zip tied that switch up under the dash but am curious what the purpose of it is. It disables the start function i think, but why?

I think for safety purposes. The factory remote start has a good latch safety to prevent the engine from remote starting while open.
