I hate to revive an old thread but I just got a 2019 uconnect for apple carplay I was getting the device not recognoized error when it is hot and took it to dodge here in canada to check for updates, I have nn-can-aso-8.4-jr-30.24.3-20191016-johq for my software and I can't use the files for uaq/uas that were posted. Dealer tells me that it is the most up to date software version and it is super annpyong that once it cools down it works fine. Can anyone verify if my dealer is full of **** and doesn't know how to get the update? I have not had good dealings with them but they are the only local dodge dealer I have to go to. Its a vp4 radio out of a 2019 that I put into my 2014 ram.

Shoot me a PM, we'll get you squared away. I do doubt that upgrading the firmware will cure your thermal issues but there are remedies for that as well...

Anyone know what I should be trying to update this 8.4 to? got it for next to nothing and would like to set it up on my 2016 RAM 1500. Looks like it came out of a Chrysler has NAV and Sirius, CarPlay.

Looks like you have a VP4 unit and not a UAS/UAQ. I don't believe this unit would have CarPlay/Android Auto, but Sirius and Nav are likely.

Search the forums for VP4 firmware as a starting point or possibly even the Uconnect website.

Carplay was available before they put it in Ram trucks in 2018. Don't remember what year it started with in other Chrysler vehicles,but definitely before 2018.

Looks like you have a very early 2017.5 Chry 300/Challenger/Charger, 4c UAq Nav radio with application version 16.11.0


Make sure you have a compatible/genuine 4c USB hub (See Post 5 )... Not a knock off. (Your original hub may not work for the updates, IDK)


Get the v18.14 UAq update from the original fw thread, then go to v22.60. (keep truck running during updates, or on a charger... Low battery voltage will brick a radio... (Updates can take awhile).

Then you can go to v28.x, then to v40.x from this thread..

Keep in mind the risk with updates is completely yours.

That because those are for the earlier 13-17 Harmon 3c RAx radios... vs your 2017.5/18 Panasonic 4c UAq Nav radio.

I have the exact same radio as dhabicht1. That radio is OEM on 2017 300/Charge/Challenger. Thus far I've been unable to update it, the only update I have found that will even attempt to install is "UCONNECT_VP4R_UAQ_18.14_MY18.zip" and it bailed out after getting stuck at 79% with "USB Update Cell Modem Section Error".

Has anyone ever gotten any update to install on this radio? It seems to be a special model for the 300/Charger/Challenger (it's even labeled MY2017.5) and they were the only platforms to get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for 2017.

Ok I have a 2020 3500 with the 8.4 WITHOUT nav and it has never been updated. I can find the UAQ software all day long but I don't have the UAQ. What software do I need/does anyone have it?

UAS is what you need. Can you post a picture of your "Application Version"?

FYI, he's got a 5th Gen Truck with a different 8.4 radio series (UAM, UAV maybe?) than what's listed/documented in this thread. (I don't keep up with 5th Gen stuff).

Ah, thanks for the correction. I think I have those files too but would definitely want to confirm the radio first.
