Anyone try this with a sunroof? I'm about to attempt this, also worried about the headliner part.....

Solid state, when you state "I brought it up the center console....", what center console are you referring to?

Thanks! The "overhead console" would have been better said, my bad lol. Its the upper console by the rearview mirror. Also, I don't know how the liner attaches around the sunroof, so no help there. But, being able to stand in the truck through the sunroof to work will make install a lot easier.

Ohhhhh...! The overhead "center console", got it! LOL! I was thinking, why the heck do you have to remove the actual center console between the 2 front seats to install a light on the roof of the truck! I forgot about the console up top.

Just one more question, how do you change the light bulb on those OEM's, from the install manual I just downloaded from Mopar, it looks like you have to unscrew them from the room to get the bulb out, is that true?

oh, and did you say you also got a set of smoked lens for them as well? If so, where did you get them? Thanks!!!

You do have to remove the lenses to change the bulbs. The molded socket inserts and 1/4 turns into the housing to secure it. I purchased a second set of clear lenses to tint. I could not find the mopar lenses already smoked.

Got my running lights (ordered the mopar OEM clear ones). Going to try and install tonight and tomorrow I think, oh the fun of drilling holes into a perfectly good almost brand new roof!

Ok, got the holes drilled, primed (and dried mostly with a heat gun), lights installed, wiring done. I'm going to start putting the headliner back up, I only pulled down the front part (removed A pillars, and visors), and did the work by reaching in carefully.

One question:
The instructions are kind of vague as to where to wire it into on my truck (shown as "2013 <" in instructions). It says connect to L77 in "Cavity 4 WT/BR (which I assume is a white wire with a brown stripe?). Problem is, I'm not 100% sure I have the right connector because my connectors do not look anything like what is pictured in the instructions. I put a volt meter on what I "thought" might be the right wire, and it only shows 4 volts which is not correct for a 12v light. (yes, I had lights on!) I'm pointing at this white/brown wire in the pic below.

Can anyone point me to the right wire and/or connector I'm looking for?

Pic of the wire I thought would be it, a pic of instructions, and a pic of the general area the connectors are (where BCM is indicated in instructions).

The fact that the install is now complete might sway your answer to this question; but would you rate this task as being worthy of the $270 the dealer is asking for labor? I’m all for hobbies but I’m short on availability at the moment.

Not sure if directed at me, as I just finished mine, but I'll take a swing at it for you. Yes, probably worth it from the dealers standpoint. And, if you want them and don't have the time and/or knowhow/will to do yourself, go right ahead and have them do it for you. I just semi retired, so I had the time and love saving the money. But it did take me from 12:30pm to now which is 6:00pm to finish it. I took my time, had a 1/2 lunch or so in the middle, and was super careful with the headliner as I have never taken one of those down before. So it took me probably over an hour to get the headliner loose/hanging down in the front. Now that I have done it and understand it better, I could do it in 5 to 10 minutes. I bet a mechanic who has done this before can do the entire task start to finish in 1 hour, maybe 1.5 hours if they were working diligently. So I'd say it's a 2 hour job for a normal guy, that has done it before, which is probably about $270 labor in todays market.

No sir just an open question to the thread, and thank you for your response! I’ll have some down time next week to try get it done, just didn’t know if it was a big enough PITA to warrant the $270.

Update

Ok, finally had some time to install lights. Was a very interesting project. Took me about 2 nights. First night to lay every thing out and drill, second night to wire. Turned out perfect! Plan on doin a little write up here shortly on some things I came across during install. Even remebered to snap some pics during the process.

Any leaks now that you have been running for awhile ? Thanks

I would skip those wiring instructions altogether...mine were wrong, as have been many others. As I posted previously, the wire the mopar instructions told me to tap into ended up being the ledt turn signal. So, all five cab lights flashed with left blinker. My advice would be to locate the 12v @ the front left headlight with your volt meter. Its one of 3 wires. Its a sure place to tap, and thats were I ran off with no problems.

Zero! Have driven in the rain and washed the truck multiple times. So far, so good.

Thanks.... hmmm... that is screwed up! Well, wiring into the headlight would make them only come on when the headlights were on, instead of with the parking lights as they should. I guess I could do the same with a parking light, but that is a l-o-n-g way to go with a couple of wires including having to fish thru the firewall... when I have them all right there under the dash.

Somebody on the diesel forum just did his, same truck, he pointed me in the right direction. Going out now to see if I can find it.
