Suggestions needed...

I recently started to hear ticking from the engine compartment of my 2015 Ram 1500. I figured it was the exhaust manifold bolts because I replaced them about 30k miles ago and it was the same noise. I took it to the dealership today to get the manifold bolts replaced and they said the bolts were fine.

They then told me that the ticking was coming from my cam and rockers. This would be no big deal to repair, but because of my aftermarket parts, they would not be able to use my warranty. They also said out of the warranty, it would be around 6K to replace the cam and rockers.

My current modifications include a diablo sport tuner, a pedal commander, and a Vararam cold air intake.

Has anyone dealt with this problem in the past? If its something serious, how should I go about getting it fixed?

My thought is to put the tune to factory and take the tuner off (for now), take off the pedal commander, and find an OEM intake and filter to put back on the truck; then take it down to another dealer and tell them I hear a ticking and I don't know where it is coming from.

Any thoughts?

Haha, agreed. I disconnected the tuner but left it in the truck. Luckily the service guy was cool and he was the one that told me to take everything off and take it to another dealership.

Even without taking it off magnuson moss act says they have to unless they can prove your mods caused it. Which no tune air filter or pedal commander will cause a cam or rocker failure youd literally have to run completely out of time.

If I take off the aftermarket parts and they still won't do it for me, then I'll cause some problems. You would think that with this being a known problem, it wouldn't matter if I had a tuner or not.

Cams known issue here's the dyi thread, the number one cause of engine failure on Ram Forum BY FAR. See if your locale has a lemon law lawyer. But, hemi tick isn't the death nail, it's just a symptom. Try running 5w30 redline oil with a RP filter, it is a saturated polar base oil with high moly, read this. See syn thread, it has about 80% rate at killing tick, gotexhaust has cheap everyday pricing, and I suggest adding sI-1 with the order. Royal Purple 20-820 can be bought on amazon.
