So you have voice text capabilities, meaning you are not restricted to the preset text ? , what is your software version ?

Yes, voice to text and text to voice work flawlessly, software version 14.25.5. Maps are a little outdated but I won't be updating since everything is working great. I bought this unit from a fellow forum member here.

Rick is it possible that his useless-connect subscription from the donor vin is still active and yours is expired?

Also I have the shark-fin installed on my truck (as a side note I had it painted to color match my truck at the dealership for 40.00). This made my internal phone fully functional and I have called uconnect using the radio and registration they will not let me register.

I cannot speak to the dummy load cell antennas you guys use I never tried one. But to some it up the shark fin should fully enable the sierra wireless air card in your radio and give you a fully functioning phone.

For me it enabled the following:
Yelp
911
Chrysler customer care
Uconnect registration (they won't let though)
Uconnect Help (They will talk to me anyway, just not do anything)
Uconnect store (Goes there but errors out)

Are you getting the 3d buildings like in this pic?

I might be wrong then. Just think its odd getting 3G without a subscription

Its the same principle that all phones still connect to a cellular network even if they are no longer in service so you can call 911 and such.. Each radio has a data cell #.

3G is just the quality of the data connection to the tower. I started consistently seeing it displayed after adding one of Cuylertech's 911 error plugs.

The gas prices, sports scores, weather and movies are part of travel link thru XM for an xtra 69.00 a year fee! One of the reasons I wanted a 15 radio was because they include 5 free years of travel link while the 13 an 14 radios only give travel link free for one year.

Yelp however is accessed thru the aircard using the sprint 3g network.

Yes I have gotten the 3D mapping twice, once in Boston and once in Providence. The 3D mapping will only work in certain areas. This is not dictated because of the area persay, it is dictated by the maps that are loaded on these units.
So to get th 3D mapping you do not need anything else, you just have to be in the right area.

The gas prices and movies etc is part of travel link an XM xtra, that data comes from the sattelites 3G has nothing to do with that. Yelp on the other hand does comes thru the aircard using the sprint 3g network.
I find that hard to believe as it would be a lot of satellite bandwidth used for individual requests for information from each vehicle. Broadcasting the same content to everyone is one thing, but sending specific data to custom users is another. But I don't know so I guess I'd have to look that up.

Well it is, I actually paid for it and had it turned on thru XM on a previous radio I had. When your free trial runs out so will travel link unless you have a 2015 or 2016 radio, they have free travel link for 5 years. When and if you decide to renew your XM you can also have part of or all of the travel link enabled as well, they have different packages for travel link. I had a hard time getting them to switch it on they kept saying my truck is not equipped for it, even after I gave them the new radio id, I finally got someone who had enough brain cells to understand an enable it, they do not hire any MENSA members.

Here is a screenshot of my account

And here is a link to XM travel link information.

Fair enough...thanks for the info! Looks like I'll be loosing all of these extra features soon as I have zero interest in renewing my subscription after the trial runs it's course.
